It's year three of the Craig Breslow experience in Boston, and results definitely aren't meeting expectations. After firing a chunk of the coaching staff, including manager Alex Cora in late April, the hope was that new faces on the team would help to rejuvenate the team. Instead, the team has mostly kept to the status quo.

Boston is 17-22 in the Chad Tracy era (as of June 12). While the bats have come more alive since the coaching changes, they still aren't hitting enough to get themselves in the playoff picture. Since there hasn't been an improvement, Breslow's seat has gotten increasingly hotter. With the trade deadline approaching fast, the topic of his job security has become front-page stuff.

Red Sox Owner, John Henry, was spotted at Yankee Stadium over the weekend. On a recent episode of the "Section 10" podcast, host Jared Carrabis speculated that Henry was in town to get a first-hand look at Breslow's performance. The longtime Red Sox media personality suggested that ownership may look to remove Breslow before the deadline if they don't believe he will be the guy running baseball operations next season.

While Carrabis didn't outright say that was why Henry was there, he hinted at the fact that he was tipped off by a source that could have been the reason. It was also noted that it was Red Sox family weekend, where all the players' families are invited to be around the team, and that could also have been a reason why Henry was in attendance.

Red Sox fans are getting conflicting rumors and reports about Craig Breslow's job security

On a separate podcast, The Boston Globe’s Tim Healey pushed back on the notion that Breslow's job is in danger. Speaking with Jake Iggy on the "Bosox Talk" podcast, Healey said: “It would surprise me if they [fired him] before the deadline.”

He said that despite Fenway Sports Group’s quick trigger when it came to firing the top baseball officials, Ben Cherington, Dave Dombrowski, and Chaim Bloom all made it to their fourth year. If ownership decides to follow its own trend, Breslow has at least one more year at the helm.

Red Sox Nation finds itself in a tumultuous time. Being swept by the Rays dropped the Sox to a bottom three team in all of baseball. Media personalities are all bemoaning the play on the field, and some are calling for Breslow’s job. Reports from inside the organization have been mixed, though the sentiment is usually that Breslow’s job is safe for now. As the season sours more, the fanbase gets louder and louder. No one is totally sure how hot Breslow’s seat is, and no one is sure if he should be allowed to fix his mistakes.
