There’s never a boring day when you’re a Boston Red Sox fan, huh? They just won’t let us know peace. The Red Sox cleaned house with the coaching staff, leading to mass panic and confusion among the fans.
How does this pertain to the prospect watch? Well, first of all, the coaching staffs in the minor leagues have seen a shakeup (most notably, Triple-A manager Chad Tracy was named interim manager for the Red Sox).
It also raises another question, though. With all the moves in the Majors, could this lead to changes throughout the farm system? It’s the same front office that would be promoting prospects, but we wonder if they’ll see this as the right time to start shaking things up everywhere. Who had big weeks to fuel the promotion fire?
Which Boston Red Sox prospects could be in line for a promotion?
Worcester Red Sox (Triple-A)
Jake Bennett continues to pitch like he’s ready for the Majors. The left-handed pitcher allowed one run on four hits over 4 2/3 innings this week. He struck out three batters and walked one. Bennett has a 0.86 ERA, a .162 BAA, and a 0.71 WHIP in five starts. He has 16 strikeouts compared to three walks in 21 innings.
Angel Bastardo made his return to the Red Sox organization this week, pitching in his first game since June 5, 2024. The right-handed pitcher made two appearances out of the bullpen. He tossed three scoreless innings, not allowing any hits. Bastardo walked three batters and struck out five.
Mikey Romero had a solid week at the plate. The left-handed hitting infielder went 6-for-20 (.300) with an RBI. He struck out six times and walked twice. Romero is slashing .258/.336/.355 with six doubles and a home run this season. He’s driven in 12 runs and scored 11 more. We’re seeing a lot of hard contact from Romero, so the extra base hits will come.
Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A)
Franklin Arias is rapidly approaching “best prospect in the world” territory. The right-handed hitter went 8-for-24 (.333) with two doubles and four home runs this week. That included a walk-off pinch-hit homer. The only thing holding Arias back was a lack of power. This year, he has a .407/.476/.870 slash line with four doubles and seven home runs. It’s April 27, and he has one fewer homer than he did in all of 2025. Arias has 17 RBI, 14 runs scored, and one steal.
Ronald Rosario is on a three-game hitting streak. The right-handed hitter is slashing .269/.309/.385 with three doubles and a home run. He’s driven in eight runs and scored seven more. With the returns of Johanfran Garcia and Brooks Brannon, playing time won’t be super easy to come by. Rosario will keep playing if he’s hitting, though.
Hayden Mullins started the game for Portland on Sunday, which ended up being the franchise’s ninth no-hitter. The left-handed pitcher allowed two unearned runs over five innings. He didn’t allow a hit and struck out five batters, but walked five as well.
Caleb Bolden came in next. The right-handed pitcher didn’t allow a hit or a walk over two scoreless innings. He struck out three batters.
Reidis Sena was the final pitcher of the game for Portland, and he picked up the win. The right-handed pitcher also didn’t allow a hit or a walk over two scoreless innings. He struck out four batters. Nate Baez was the catcher in the game, and he also hit a two-run home run.
Greenville Drive (High-A)
Anthony Eyanson has officially entered the “everyone pay attention right now” phase. The right-hander allowed one hit over 4 1/3 scoreless innings on Saturday. He struck out nine batters and issues no walks. Eyanson has a 0.54 ERA, a .109 BAA, and a 0.36 WHIP in four starts. He has 27 strikeouts over 16 2/3 innings to go along with zero walks. It's hard to see Eyanson in High-A for too much longer.
Marcus Phillips had his second straight dominant start this week. The right-handed pitcher didn’t allow a hit over 3 1/3 scoreless innings. He walked four batters and struck out five. Phillips is down to a 4.22 ERA, a .195 BAA, and a 1.59 WHIP in four appearances (three starts). He has 15 strikeouts compared to nine walks in 10 2/3 innings.
Yophery Rodriguez is showing a ridiculous amount of growth early in the season. The left-handed hitting outfielder went 7-for-17 with a double and three home runs this week. He’s slashing .317/.386/.651 with six doubles and five home runs in High-A this year. He hit five home runs in all of 2025. Rodriguez has 11 RBI and 12 runs scored in 17 games.
Henry Godbout got hot this week. The right-handed hitter was 9-for-21 with three doubles and a home run. He’s slashing .259/.375/.426 with three doubles and two home runs. The shortstop has driven in two runs and scored eight more in 14 games.
Justin Gonzales hit a grand slam on Sunday, as part of a three-hit game. The right-handed hitting outfielder holds a .276/.337/.447 with four doubles and three home runs. He’s driven in 17 runs and scored 12 more. Gonzales has four multi-hit performances over his last seven games.
Isaiah Jackson enjoyed a breakout series, going 6-for-20 (.300) with a double and three home runs. The left-handed hitting outfielder is slashing .220/.313/.424 with one double, one triple, and three home runs. He’s driven in 18 runs, scored 11 more, and stolen one base.
Stanley Tucker hit a home run in Single-A this week, then he was promoted to High-A and hit his first homer at that level. The right-handed hitting utility man is slashing .340/.450/.600 with two doubles, a triple, and three home runs between the two levels. He’s driven in 10 runs, scored 16 more, and stolen nine bases (in nine attempts).
Salem RidgeYaks (Single-A)
Dylan Brown allowed just one earned run over 5 2/3 innings in his start this week. He surrendered three hits and two walks, while striking out seven batters. The left-handed pitcher has a 3.06 ERA, a .190 BAA, and a 1.25 WHIP in four starts. He has 25 strikeouts compared to 10 walks in 17 2/3 innings. Brown is an obvious promotion candidate.
Jason Gilman made his professional debut this week and was phenomenal. The left-handed pitcher didn’t allow a run or even a hit over two innings. He struck out five batters and only walked one.
Jacob Mayers allowed four hits over 4 1/3 scoreless innings. The right-handed pitcher struck out three batters and walked one. Mayers has a 3.72 ERA, a .257 BAA, and a 1.86 WHIP in three appearances (two starts). He has struck out 10 batters and walked nine in 9 2/3 innings.
Enddy Azocar went 6-for-22 (.273) with three doubles and a home run this week. The right-handed hitting outfielder is slashing .263/.310/.475 with six doubles, one triple, and three home runs this season. He’s driven in 14 runs, scored 16 more, and stolen two bases. The 19-year-old has tapped into his power over the last two weeks.
Luke Heyman went 6-for-16 (.375) with a double this week. He drew more walks (6) than he struck out (5). The right-handed hitting catcher is slashing .222/.382/.333 with three doubles and a home run this season. He’s driven in six runs and scored eight more.
Expect some promotions within the month as these players continue to shine and handle the competition with ease.
