Things aren’t going well for the Boston Red Sox early in the 2026 campaign. The offense has been mainly nonexistent and we’ve seen unexpected pitching struggles (whatever’s going on with Garrett Crochet and Sonny Gray).

The good news is, we’re not here to talk about the major league team. Boston’s farm system is our business here, and business is booming.

Red Sox Prospect Update: Franklin Arias, Yoeilin Cespedes power surge, John Holobetz masterclass

Worcester Red Sox (Triple-A)

Michael Sansone made his Triple-A debut on Sunday and proved he belongs. The left-handed pitcher tossed six scoreless innings. He struck out five batters while only allowing two hits and walking two more. It was arguably Sansone’s best game of his professional career — a hell of a way to introduce himself to Worcester.

Noah Song had his best week in Triple-A. The right-handed pitcher tossed four shutout innings over two appearances. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out six batters.

Allan Castro started his Triple-A career 0-for-9. He’s been phenomenal since, including hitting .300 this week. The switch-hitter is slashing .222/.300/.365 with three home runs. He’s driven in 12 runs, scored eight more, and stolen three bases.

Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A)

Franklin Arias might not be human. The shortstop had a scary moment when he was hit on the wrist by a pitch. Not much else has gone wrong for him, though. The right-handed hitter is slashing .467/.564/.833 with two doubles and three home runs. He’s driven in nine runs, scored eight more, and stolen one base. Arias has more walks (5) than strikeouts (3).

Ronald Rosario went 0-for-16 through his first four games of the season. The right-handed hitter is 9-for-20 since then. Rosario is slashing .250/.289/.389 with two doubles and one home run. The catcher has driven in five runs and scored five more.

John Holobetz tied a career-high with nine strikeouts in his outing last week. He topped that this week with a new career-best 11 punchies. The right-handed pitcher allowed one run on one hit and one walk over seven innings. Holobetz has a 1.13 ERA, .113 BAA, and 0.69 WHIP in three starts. He has 23 strikeouts and 5 walks in 16 innings.

Eduardo Rivera has carried the momentum from the World Baseball Classic into the regular season. The left-handed pitcher allowed three hits over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out nine batters and walked two.

Hayden Mullins had a rough first outing of the year, but has been typical Hayden Mullins since then. The lefty tossed six shutout innings on Sunday. He allowed three hits and walked one more, while striking out a season-high eight.

Greenville Drive (High-A)

Yoeilin Cespedes hit his first two High-A home runs this week (in the same game). The right-handed hitting infielder is slashing .288/.351/.538 with seven doubles and two home runs this season. He’s driven in nine runs and scored nine more. Cespedes was, at one time, a top-100 prospect, so keep an eye on him.

Yophery Rodriguez had a two-homer game this week, too (in the same game as Cespedes). The left-handed hitting outfielder is slashing .283/.313/.522 with five doubles and two home runs. He’s driven in four runs and scored five more.

Adonys Guzman is on a four-game hitting streak. He also hit his first double and first homer of the year this week. The right-handed hitting catcher holds a .296/.394/.444 slash line with one double and one home run. He’s driven in six runs and scored five more.

Mason White is riding a four-game hitting streak, with three multi-hit games in that time. The left-handed hitting infielder is slashing .289/.340/.578 with four doubles and three home runs. He’s driven in seven runs and scored eight more.

Anthony Eyanson will be on top-100 lists before long. The right-handed pitcher tossed another five shutout innings this week. He allowed two hits and one walk while striking out five batters. Eyanson has a 0.73 ERA, .122 BAA, and 0.41 WHIP in three starts. He has 18 strikeouts in 12 1/3 innings. Eyanson has yet to walk anyone.

Marcus Phillips had his best outing in High-A. The righty allowed two hits in 3 2/3 shutout innings. He struck out a career-high seven batters and only walked one. Remember when people were acting like the sky was falling because he struggled in his first professional outing? That was hilarious.

Salem RidgeYaks (Single-A)

Dalvinson Reyes made his Single-A debut on Sunday. The right-handed pitcher struggled in the FCL last season after generating a ton of buzz in 2024. His first Salem outing went about as well as you could hope. Reyes threw two scoreless (and hitless) innings. He struck out three batters and walked two.

Andrews Opata made me look smart this week. After hyping him up all last week, he continued to rake (including hitting his first professional home run). The right-handed hitting outfielder is slashing .368/.429/.632 with three doubles, two triples, and one home run. He’s driven in seven runs, scored six more, and stolen five bases.

Enddy Azocar had a two-homer game on Saturday. The right-handed hitting outfielder is slashing .259/.317/.448 with three doubles, one triple, and two home runs. He’s driven in eight runs, scored 13 more, and stolen two bases.

Stanley Tucker has five straight multi-hit games. The left-handed hitter is slashing .438/.526/.656 with two doubles, one triple, and one home run. He’s driven in five runs, scored 11 more, and stolen four bases. Tucker plays great defense all over the diamond, which will help him get into the lineup daily. Speaking of, it’s looking like they should be trying to figure out where he’s playing in Greenville because Single-A isn’t challenging him much.
