Not even a week has passed since the Boston Red Sox lost the 2025 American League Wild Card round to the New York Yankees, their first playoff loss to their rivals in over two decades.

The Yankees' performance in the second round has made Boston's emotional rebound easy, however. The Toronto Blue Jays have throttled New York in Games 1 and 2, to the tune of 10-1 and 13-7 wins, respectively. Of course, Red Sox legend David Ortiz, an analyst on FOX's Division Series panel, made sure to get in on the fun and troll the Yankees.

Ortiz listed off the ideal lineup of Yankees to carry the team to a bounce-back against the Blue Jays. Joe DiMaggio and his two former Yankees co-panelists Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez headline the squad, which also includes Yogi Berra, Don Mattingly, Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth, among other icons.

Through laughs and verbal jabs, Ortiz attested: "I just came to help!" Jeter and Rodriguez tried to get a word in to defend their former team, but Ortiz replied "See you guys in Cancún."

New York looks like it needs quite a bit of help to beat Toronto, which has looked untouchable in the first games of the postseason. Despite posting a down year after signing a meda-extension with the Jays, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has broken out offensively. The first baseman has six hits in Games 1 and 2, including two homers, one a grand slam. Catcher Alejandro Kirk has also stunned at the plate with three hits, two of them home runs, and six RBI. In Game 2, Blue Jays rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage broke franchise history by fanning 11 New York hitters in one game, the first playoff start of his career.

Aaron Judge has notched four hits and an RBI over two games in Toronto, but none have mattered as the rest of New York's lineup failed to come through. Giancarlo Stanton has struggled north of the border at just 3-for-16, Jazz Chisholm Jr. has one hit in the series and Ben Rice has two.

It would be hard to argue that the Red Sox wouldn't be subject to the same fate as the Yankees had they advanced to the ALDS — Boston's pitching staff is decimated and its offense severely lacked without Roman Anthony (and Rafael Devers) in the lineup. But since the Sox didn't advance, it's nice to see that the Yankees aren't having any fun, either.
