Former Boston Red Sox outfield prospect Jhostynxon "The Password" Garcia became a fan favorite in Boston, and it sounds like he's already doing similar things as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.

Pirates beat writer Noah Hiles raved about Garcia during a recent appearance on the "Bucco Territory" podcast, calling The Password "big-league ready" and suggesting that Garcia might earn a spot on the MLB roster.

As of February 27, Garcia was 5-for-11 in spring training with four runs, two RBI, and three stolen bases. He's clearly made an impact at the plate through five spring games in a Pirates uniform.

Red Sox fans are well aware of Garcia's talent with a bat in his hands. Plenty of those same fans were disheartened to see Garcia traded in the December 4 deal that sent Johan Oviedo, Tyler Samaniego, and catcher Adonys Guzman to Boston.

Garcia's major-league experience with the Red Sox ultimately amounted to a mere cup of coffee, which left Boston fans wanting so much more after watching Garcia destroy minor-league pitching over the past couple of years.

Briefly last summer, it felt like Garcia might even provide a solution at first base for the Red Sox, but that ended up being a pipe dream. Garcia is a natural outfielder, and ultimately, Boston's never-ending outfield logjam represented an immovable blockade for The Password's Red Sox future. Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow knew it, which is a big reason why he confidently turned Garcia's upside into further pitching depth, including an arm in Oviedo that may very well start the regular season as a member of the Red Sox's five-man rotation.

Without a discernible path to a sustained MLB role in Boston, Garcia will surely benefit from his new opportunities in Pittsburgh, even if leaving the Red Sox was emotionally difficult.

And for Red Sox fans still hurt over Garcia's exit, remember that there is still a Garcia in Boston! Jhostynxon's brother, Johanfran, appropriately nicknamed "The Username", remains a prospect in the Red Sox system.

The 21-year-old catching prospect doesn't have the same pop at the plate as his brother, but he showed considerable growth in 2025, and Boston's leadership is excited to witness his ongoing development in 2026.

With Johanfran coming along nicely, and with Jhostynxon poised to see more opportunities in Pittsburgh, there's plenty to be thrilled about in the Garcia household.
