The Boston Red Sox haven't given their fans much to look forward to in recent weeks, but the organization's minor league system is still riddled with talent, to the point that prospects are receiving national recognition from unexpected sources.

Red Sox prospect and Triple-A outfielder Jhostynxon Garcia has gained notoriety for his slugging ability and unique name. He's become so popular that he was name-dropped in a question on the May 26 episode of Jeopardy!

β€œIt’s something many use every day to unlock things online & the nickname of Red Sox prospect Jhostynxon Garcia," the question read. The answer was Garcia's already legendary nickname, "Password."

Garcia was only in the lower levels of the minor leagues when he first started catching attention for his name, but his mention on Jeopardy! and recent promotion to Triple-A are sure to have baseball fans keeping their eye on his work in Worcester. He stars in the outfield alongside fellow top Red Sox prospect, Roman Anthony.

Garcia is slashing .417/.440/.708 with a 1.148 OPS in his first six games in Triple-A. He was promoted on May 20 after 33 games with the Sea Dogs in 2025, and a comparatively meager .256/.355/.393 slash line. The outfielder jumped three levels last season, and his meteoric rise through the farm system and iconic nickname quickly earned him fans across Red Sox Nation.

Garcia and his younger brother, Johanfran, Venezuela natives, are both prospects in the Red Sox organization. Jhostynxon signed in July of 2019 and Johanfran in January 2022, and his brother, a catcher, was considered the higher-touted prospect early in his career. But in 2024, the elder Garcia emerged as a top-10 Red Sox prospect and earned a 40-man roster spot to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft.

The Password hasn't made his MLB debut yet, and is likely still a ways from it, but he's already being recognized for what may be the best nickname in the minor leagues. The Red Sox's outfield is quite jammed with Anthony, Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu and Ceddanne Rafaela in the mix, but Boston fans would love to see Garcia reach the big leagues with the Red Sox in some capacity.
