The Spring Breakout game featuring the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night wasted little time before lighting up the scoreboard. It didn't take long for a few of the prospects to give Boston fans a glimpse into what their future might hold.

The Red Sox didn't have much going on with two outs in the third inning. Two batters had reached up to that point, but nothing to get the fans excited. With a runner on first, Kristian Campbell stepped up to the plate for his second at-bat of the day.

Campbell took a 1-0 pitch to right field and muscled it for a two-run home run. It's something we saw a lot of last year. The right-handed hitting second baseman can get baseballs to leave the park in a hurry.

However, it didn't stop there. The very next batter was Marcelo Mayer, and kept the power surge going. The left-handed hitting shortstop smoked a 1-0 pitch to right field for a solo home run.

MLB Spring Breakout: Red Sox top prospects Kristian Campbell, Marcelo Mayer homer

Boston fans had to be thrilled seeing two of their top three prospects creating fireworks on a major showcase. The Spring Breakout game was made for moments like this. And it's even more intriguing when some players are fighting for jobs on MLB rosters.

Fans of the Red Sox might not have to wait long to see Campbell in the Majors. He could be on the team Opening Day depending on how the starting second base job shakes out during spring training.

On the other hand, Mayer has yet to appear in any Triple-A games. Due to that, they might want him to spend time in Worcester before getting to Boston. Funny enough, Mayer has been the most impressive of the Big Three (along with Roman Anthony and Campbell) this March. He's continuing to remind fans just how good he is after an injury prematurely ended his 2024 campaign.

Wait a second, my goodness! That's Roman Anthony's music!

The Big Three have homered in the same game. How about that? This will be one of the most memorable Spring Breakout showings for quite some time.

The Red Sox have a promising roster for the 2025 season. Their farm system is cause for the most excitement, though, and this is just a taste of what's to come.
