As the Boston Red Sox gear up for the 2025 season, they're hoping to see some of their younger guys take a step forward this year.

They'll need big performances to compete in the tough American League East. Besides prospects like Roman Anthony, Kristian Campbell and Marcelo Mayer, these are three Red Sox who could make their first All-Star team in 2025.

Wilyer Abreu

Although it was rumored that Wilyer Abreu could be on the move this offseason, he projects as the starting right fielder on the current roster. He got regular playing time for the first time in 2024 and did not disappoint, finishing sixth in AL Rookie of the Year voting. He posted a .785 OPS in 132 games, managing 15 home runs and a team-leading 33 doubles.

Even more impressive was his defense in right field, which earned him a Gold Glove award, and his arm strength, which ranked in the 98th percentile last year. If he plays consistently and can cut down on strikeouts, he could be headed to Atlanta in July.

Brayan Bello

The Red Sox certainly believe in Brayan Bello's potential — otherwise, they wouldn't have handed him a six-year, $55 million extension last year. Though his last two seasons haven't been stellar, he's still just 25 and has good velocity on his fastball and a sharp breaking ball.

Walks and hard contact were his biggest struggles last year, but if he can improve his control, he has the stuff to be an elite pitcher in MLB, as evidenced by his strong finish to 2024. Besides, he's managed to stay mostly healthy since debuting.

Triston Casas

Another player who was rumored to be a trade piece this offseason, Triston Casas was limited to just 63 games last year by torn cartilage in his left rib cage. At 6'5" and 244 pounds, Casas has good power and walks at an exceptionally high rate — a good combo to have. He was outstanding in 2023 when he posted a .856 OPS en route to a third-place finish in AL Rookie of the Year voting. Not only that, but his batted ball stats are excellent, and there's a lot of red on his Baseball Savant page. Now featuring in a more robust lineup, Casas is primed for a big 2025.
