This Will Be a Big One!
With the Red Sox and Yankees meeting up today I am wondering what the line-up is going to produce. What Valentine has up his sleeve. Especially after Valentine said “”When will it be? Tomorrow right? Absolutely! I won’t be able to sleep tonight. This will be a big one”.
And after his “See ya” comment to Ozzie Guillen after he got tossed earlier today from the Marlins Red Sox game. Is Valentine always this sarcastic and bold?
Everyone is talking about the Red Sox pitching situation, what will happen and why Valentine seems to not be worried about it very much. Our line up for the first game with my favorite rivals looks like this: The only regular starters will be Jacoby Ellsbury (at DH), Dustin Pedroia, Salty, and Mike Aviles. And Felix Doubront will pitch. (His fastball weighs in at 91-94 mph and has a nothing to scoff at mid-70’s curveball.)
Mixed in with them are slated to be, corner infielders Will Middlebrooks and Anderson, and outfielders Juan Carlos Linares, Josh Kroeger and Alex Hassan. No doubt these guys will all be looking to show the Yankees who they are. And with Valentine having already cracked on the Yankees, praising Tek “was able to beat up Alex” in the great fight of 2004 and Reggie Jackson firing back about who even knows Varitek’s first name, we are off to a great year of trash talking and age old rivalry.
Oddly enough though, neither team seems too intimidated or bothered by the other. I also believe 100 percent in Salty and his ability to calm and make great calls for his pitchers. I might be so bold as to say, I think Salty could be the Red Sox secret weapon. He could be a pitcher whisperer…
It is Red Sox Yankee day Red Sox Nation. These games, no matter how insignificant or everything being on the line are my favorites. And call me crazy but I cannot wait to see what happens with our ugly step sister this year.
