Payton Tolle made his Triple-A debut on August 10, and he continues to get considerable praise in the prospect ranking community. MLB Pipeline released its midseason rankings update on August 11, and the lefty made a huge jump. The 22-year-old finds himself at No. 28 on their top 100.

A second-round pick in 2024 out of TCU, Tolle is Boston's newest shining star in their minor league system. The Red Sox have retooled his pitch usage in his year in the organization, and it's paid off. He's flown through the minors this year to the point where there is some conversation around him potentially making his MLB Debut in the bullpen before the end of the season.

MLB Pipeline noted his meteoric rise and deemed him Boston's second-ranked prospect, behind Franklin Arias (No. 24). Not only is he second-ranked in Boston's system, he ranks fifth among all pitchers and third among southpaws. He sits directly behind Blue Jays top prospect, righty Trey Yesavage (No. 26), a first-rounder in 2024, and the sixth overall pick in 2025 by the Pirates, righty Seth Hernandez (No. 27). The two lefties above him are Thomas White of the Marlins (No. 21) and the third overall pick in 2025 by the Mariners, Kade Anderson (No. 22).

Overall, the Red Sox have four top 100 prospects, two fewer than Baseball America had on their top 100. The previously mentioned Arias is now Boston's top prospect following the graduations of Kristian Campbell, Marcelo Mayer, and Roman Anthony. The 19-year-old shortstop has jumped up a lot this season, after starting the season at No. 76 on the top 100 back in January.

MLB Pipeline has four Red Sox minor leaguers on its latest top 100 prospects list

The man with the best nickname in baseball, The Password, comes in at No. 78. Jhostynxon Garcia is a 22-year-old outfielder who has been destroying baseballs since his Triple-A call-up. The Venezuelan has 16 homers and 30 total extra-base hits in his 59 games in Worcester so far this season. The Sox are starting to give him reps at first base as a way to try and find him a path to the majors.

The final member of the top 100 is the Red Sox's first-round pick, Kyson Witherspoon. The 21-year-old is MLB Pipeline's No. 15-ranked right-handed pitcher and ranks two spots above the No. 2 pick in the 2025 draft by the Angels, righty Tyler Bremner. Just like the Red Sox did last year with their draft picks who were pitchers, Witherspoon won't make his organizational debut until 2026. He'll spend the rest of the season in Fort Myers to protect his arm and ease him into the training program.

Outside the top 100, left-handed pitcher Brandon Clarke rounds out Boston's top five. LHP Connelly Early, Outfielder Justin Gonzalez, 2B/3B Mikey Romero, RHP Luis Perales, and RHP David Sandlin are ranked 6-10. All four of the Red Sox picks in the top three rounds of the draft find themselves in the Top 30; the other three- RHP Marcus Phillips, RHP Anthony Eyanson, and 2B Henry Godbout are ranked 11, 12, and 19, respectively.
