Few players have given rise to more trade speculation this offseason than Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas.

With rumors that the Sox might move Rafael Devers to first to make room for a new third baseman, Casas' name has been floated in the trade market consistently. The young first baseman is trying not to get caught up in all of the rumors involving his name.

"I feel like that's part of the business of baseball is checking in on players, seeing what kind of value you can get back," Casas said at Fenway Fest on Jan. 11.

Casas has spoken with several people in the organization about the rumors, and the Red Sox have told him that for now, none of them are true. Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow himself has denied the rumors on multiple occasions. That hasn't stopped theories about his future, with many in the industry still speculating that the Red Sox could be shopping him this offseason, especially in exchange for pitching.

Triston Casas addresses rampant Red Sox trade rumors at Fenway Fest

Casas, who played just 63 games last year due to a rib injury, expressed his love for Boston but said that no matter where he is come March 28 — Opening Day — he'll be focused on preparing for big league pitching.

With the Red Sox involved in the discussions for Alex Bregman and Nolan Arenado, it's only natural for Casas' name to be mentioned in trade rumors, especially because Casas has so much value. He's shown real promise in his young career, especially as far as power and discipline are concerned. If the Red Sox don't have a place for him, there's no sense in keeping him on the bench when they can leverage him to address other roster holes.

Still, the rumors around Bregman and Arenado are still just that — rumors. That and Casas' potential might convince Boston to keep him.

Either way, Casas seems to be taking the situation well, as he's most concerned with preparing for the upcoming season, regardless of which uniform he'll be wearing. Moreover, it's good to hear that he's happy in Boston. That should help his relationship with the front office and could even lead to an extension, which the two parties have discussed in the past.
