For everything that has gone wrong for the Boston Red Sox this season (and the list is getting pretty lengthy), it did feel pretty great to beat the Yankees on Friday. Sonny Gray pitched into the seventh inning, Willson Contreras had a big home run that proved to be the difference in the game, and the bullpen closed things out. It was truly a team effort and it put Boston in a great position to steal the series against their most hated rival on Saturday. Unfortunately, Mother Nature is threatening those plans.
Ideally, the Red Sox will send Ranger Suarez to the mound against New York and he will dominate the now Aaron Judge-less Yankees who are being led by Will Warren. Unfortunately, this rival matchup is pretty much the only game on Saturday that was in peril when it came to the weather. The forecast was grim from the start and while there was a chance that the storms would clear out before the game, that did not happen and we are officially in a rain delay that could last for a bit.
**UPDATE: 8:02 PM EST**
Welp, so much for getting the game in this evening. While the forecast does look like it clears up later in the evening, it sounds like officials don't think it will clear out in time to get the game in. This game is postponed and will be made up with a doubleheader on August 29.

Red Sox vs. Yankees Rain Delay, 6/6/26: When will this game start?
For those that want to catch all of the game, it might be a bit of a late night, but the game should happen. Thankfully, it didn't rain enough beforehand to cause concerns with the field and, if the forecasts are close to right, all of the storms should be out of the area by 9 PM or so. Depending on how quickly the rain actually moves, we could see this delay last only an hour, although you may want to plan for a couple hours to be sure.
Once more information about the delay and/or forecast is made available, we will update this post with that info. There may be a bit of a wait, but this game should eventually get played.
