The prospect watch was hijacked a bit this week. We saw some serious talent in the minor league system over the weekend. Adley Rutschman made his Boston Red Sox organizational debut on Saturday with the Worcester Red Sox on a rehab assignment.
He brought plenty of eyes to the Triple-A team. However, he’s not part of the farm system, so he won’t be highlighted here. It was nice to see him back on the field and to see a few players take advantage of the increased fan interest in the minor leagues over the last few days.
Red Sox Prospect Update: Mikey Romero's big day, Gage Ziehl and Sadbiel Delzine dominate
Worcester Red Sox (Triple-A)
Mikey Romero took advantage of the extra eyes Rutschman brought to Worcester. In Rutschman’s first game, Romero went 6-for-6 with a home run. The left-handed-hitting infielder went 10-for-22 with a double, a triple, and two homers this week. He has a .239/.303/.391 slash line with 13 doubles, three triples, and 11 home runs. Romero’s driven in 49 runs, scored 43, and stolen two bases.
Franklin Arias went 8-for-22 with a double, a home run, and seven RBI. The right-handed-hitting shortstop is slashing .313/.399/.576 with 20 doubles, one triple, and 22 home runs between Double-A and Triple-A. He’s driven in 66 runs, scored 56, and stolen five bases.
Allan Castro went 10-for-18 with three doubles and six RBI this week. He walked three times without striking out. The switch-hitting outfielder is slashing .252/.325/.374 with 13 doubles, one triple, and nine home runs. He’s driven in 53 runs, scored 52, and stolen 17 bases.
Gage Ziehl made his Triple-A debut on Saturday and absolutely dealt. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits over 5 2/3 scoreless innings. He struck out eight batters without walking any. The 23-year-old is in his first season in the organization and making one hell of an impression.
John Holobetz only went four innings, but he didn’t allow any runs on five hits. The right-handed pitcher struck out two batters without walking any. Holobetz has allowed one run on nine hits over two starts with Worcester. He has eight strikeouts and no walks in 9 2/3 innings.
Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A)
Miguel Bleis went 7-for-16 with two home runs and a steal. The right-handed-hitting outfielder holds a .232/.290/.379 slash line with 12 doubles and 11 home runs. He’s driven in 35 runs, scored 49, and stolen 13 bases.
Mason White struggled most of the week but went 3-for-4 with two home runs on Sunday. The left-handed-hitting middle infielder finished the week 6-for-19 with five RBI. White is slashing .265/.358/.510 with 14 doubles, four triples, and 17 home runs between High-A and Double-A. He’s driven in 51 runs and scored 47.
Jeremy Wu-Yelland made two appearances (one start) this week, picking up one save. The left-handed pitcher allowed two hits over four shutout innings. He struck out five batters without walking any. JWY has a 5.21 ERA, .217 BAA, and 1.42 WHIP in 13 outings (one start). He has 29 strikeouts and 12 walks in 19 innings.
Max Carlson made two appearances out of the bullpen this week, also picking up one save. The right-handed pitcher allowed one run on five hits over five innings. He struck out five batters and walked two. Carlson has a 4.70 ERA, .263 BAA, and 1.25 WHIP in 29 games (two starts). He has 76 strikeouts and 16 walks in 67 innings.
Greenville Drive (High-A)
Carlos Gutierrez was acquired in the Marcelo Mayer trade and has made a strong first impression. The left-handed-hitting outfielder went 4-for-13 with a double and a walk this week. He drove in one run, scored three, and stole two bases.
Antonio Anderson went 8-for-13 with two doubles and two home runs this week. The switch-hitting corner infielder also walked more times (4) than he struck out (2). Anderson is up to a .284/.378/.482 slash line with 13 doubles, three triples, and eight home runs. He’s driven in 38 runs, scored 41, and stolen one base.
Ronny Hernandez went 6-for-14 with five RBI this week. The left-handed-hitting catcher/first baseman is slashing .306/.423/.553 with nine doubles and 11 home runs. He’s driven in 36 runs and scored 39.
Owen Hull hit his first professional home run this week. The left-handed-hitting outfielder went 4-for-16 and added a double and five RBI. He walked four times compared to two strikeouts, and stole one base. The 2026 second-round pick is slashing .346/.438/.577 with three doubles and a home run in six games. He’s driven in nine runs, scored four, and stolen one base. Hull has drawn more walks (5) than he has strikeouts (3).
Brady Tygart made his High-A debut this week, and he sure did look fantastic. The right-handed pitcher allowed just one hit over five scoreless innings in a piggyback role out of the bullpen. He struck out three batters and walked one.
Alex Bouchard allowed one run on two hits over 3 2/3 innings. The right-handed pitcher struck out seven batters and walked one. Bouchard is down to a 4.72 ERA, .238 BAA, and 1.48 WHIP in 15 games (10 starts). He has 52 strikeouts and 33 walks in 55 1/3 innings.
Salem RidgeYaks (Single-A)
Louis Andujar went 8-for-15 with two doubles and one home run this week. He walked twice without striking out a single time. The right-handed-hitting infielder is up to a .243/.332/.418 slash line with 11 doubles, one triple, and six home runs since being promoted to Single-A. He’s driven in 24 runs, scored 31, and stolen eight bases.
Avinson Pinto went 5-for-15 with one double and one home run. He stole two bases and drove in a team-high six runs this week. The left-handed-hitting infielder is slashing .239/.329/.374 with 14 doubles, five triples, and five home runs. He’s driven in 39 runs, scored 46, and stolen 11 bases.
Anderson Fermin went 4-for-11 with five RBI this week. He walked more times (3) than he struck out (2) and stole two bases. The switch-hitting outfielder is slashing .219/.382/.295 with five doubles, three triples, and one home run. He’s driven in 22 runs, scored 32, and stolen 11 bases.
Starlyn Nunez went 5-for-14 with a double and four RBI this week. He also stole a team-high four bases. The switch-hitting utility is slashing .224/.298/.396 with 13 doubles, four triples, and 11 home runs. He’s driven in 43 runs, scored 44, and stolen 18 bases.
Sadbiel Delzine once again was must-watch TV. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits over 3 2/3 shutout innings. He struck out five batters and walked one. The right-handed pitcher has a 1.50 ERA, .167 BAA, and 1.00 WHIP in three starts in Single-A. He has 16 strikeouts and five walks in 12 innings.
