Boston Red Sox prospect Jeremy Wu-Yelland has not had an easy journey through the minor leagues. The left-handed pitcher was a fourth-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft. There was no minor league season that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so Wu-Yelland didn't appear in a game until 2021.
In his first year in the minors, Wu-Yelland was a major part of a no-hitter in High-A. He tossed the first five innings, Jose Espada threw the next two innings, Oddanier Mosqueda took the eighth inning, and Jacob Wallace closed it out in the ninth.
However, an injury meant Wu-Yelland didn't pitch at all in 2022. He only threw four innings (all in the Florida Complex League) in 2023. The lefty returned to High-A in 2024, 32 months after his last appearance at the level.
On July 11, Wu-Yelland threw two innings in relief as part of another no-hitter for Greenville, and he called it a full-circle moment. It showed just how far the 25-year-old had come but also how far he still had to go.

"It was tough early on. It's easy to fall into a lot of traps mentally on the road to recovery," Wu-Yelland said. "You're wondering what kind of player you're going to be going forward. I put a lot of pressure on myself early on, and I think this is the first year I'm getting past that."
It's safe to say he has put the pressure past him. Working through injuries can't be easy, but Wu-Yelland has come out of the other side as good as ever, and he's done impressive work on the mound in 2025. He's been promoted to Double-A and hasn't slowed down. The left-handed pitcher has a 2.57 ERA, .211 BAA, and 1.14 WHIP in 11 appearances between High-A and Double-A. He has 34 strikeouts compared to eight walks in 21 innings and is a perfect 3-for-3 in save opportunities.
Wu-Yelland can touch the high-90s with his fastball, and his left-handedness is something to keep an eye on. There are plenty of reasons to be interested in what he can bring to the table, and Wu-Yelland's gritty mentality is a big one.
