On Feb. 28, the Boston Red Sox organization announced a full-season suspension for breakout prospect Brainer Bonaci for an undisclosed violation of MLB's domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy.

On Oct. 9, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reported that Bonaci has been released, per a major league source. His suspension ended with the 2024 minor league season, but Boston opted to release him rather than accept him back into the organization.

Bonaci played himself into top prospect consideration after his 2023 campaign with High-A Greenville and Double-A Portland. The shortstop batted .297/.354/.464 over 79 games across both levels, but he only posted 16 games with the Sea Dogs before his season was terminated.

Now that that's done with, there are other pressing matters to attend to.

Netflix, Red Sox release trailer for upcoming series, "The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Sox"

Netflix and the Red Sox have dropped the trailer and release date for their upcoming documentary series about the 2004 playoff run.

"The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Sox" will be released on Netflix on Oct. 23. The series will be three episodes and feature interviews from Pedro Martinez, David Ortiz, Kevin Millar, Terry Francona, Theo Epstein, and other integral players and staff.

The show will profile the Red Sox's playoff run that broke their 86-year championship drought. The miraculous comeback against the Yankees may give Sox fans all the postseason content they need without the Red Sox in the race this year.

And speaking of ... one of those Red Sox players from the 2004 team is in the news.

Former Red Sox Kevin Youkilis did not rule out a potential coaching position in MLB

Former Red Sox manager Terry Francona recently made a triumphant return to baseball when he was hired as the Cincinnati Reds manager on Oct. 4. A former Red Sox player could join him, based on an interview posted on Oct. 8.

Kevin Youkilis spoke about Francona with NBC 5 Cincinnati after he joined the Reds. He layered praise onto his former manager, then addressed whether or not he'd ever coach in MLB himself.

"I don't know when or if I'll coach, but the one thing I've learned in life is 'never say never,'" Youkilis said.

It sounds like the Cincinnati native may venture into coaching if he gets the right offer. Based on his compliments for Francona, the Reds may be his ideal destination.
