Even after the 2025 Boston Red Sox reported to spring training, the front office added more bullpen reinforcements. This time, it's a familiar face.
The Red Sox on Feb. 18 announced their reunion with veteran reliever Adam Ottavino, who signed a minor league contract with an invite to spring training. The righty joined the rest of the squad in Fort Myers later that day and tossed his first bullpen on Feb. 19.
Ottavino was a fixture of the 2021 Red Sox bullpen and turned down major league offers from other clubs to return to Boston due to familiarity. The 39-year-old spent the past three seasons with the Mets and posted a 4.34 ERA with 70 strikeouts, 15 holds and one save over 56 innings of work.
Ottavino has donned the No. 0 jersey since 2013 across four different teams, including the Red Sox. Walker Buehler claimed Boston's zero jersey before the team's reunion with Ottavino, so the latter will switch up his number and sport double-zero instead in 2025.

On Feb. 19, New England Sports Network (NESN) announced its roster of talent for its Red Sox broadcasts in 2025. Much of the staff remains the same from the 2024 squad, but there have been a few notable changes.
Dave O'Brien remains in the press box for his 10th season calling games on NESN. Kevin Youkilis, one of the many color analysts who sat beside him last season, is not slated to appear on any broadcasts in 2025. NESN will feature much more of Lou Merloni on color, with appearances from Kevin Millar, as well. Mike Monaco will fill in for O'Brien when necessary, Will Middlebrooks will appear as both a booth and studio analyst and Jahmai Webster will remain the sideline reporter.
The studio team still features Tom Caron as its primary host in his 25th year on NESN's Red Sox broadcast. Adam Pellerin also returns as a host, with Hall of Famer Jim Rice, Jonathan Papelbon, Lenny DiNardo and Deven Marrero as analysts.
