Either the Tampa Bay Rays or Milwaukee Brewers will make World Series history this October, since neither team has ever won. Since Tampa Bay is a division rival of the Boston Red Sox, much of New England has taken a rooting interest in the Brewers.

The Red Sox and Brewers also have a family connection — Sox home run leader Willson Contreras' younger brother William, who's been Milwaukee's primary catcher since 2023. William Contreras is a perrennial playoff contender, reaching in the last six years. His career began in 2020 with the Atlanta Braves, he went on to win the 2021 World Series with them, and the Brewers have made the playoffs every year since 2023.

Willson Contreras is six years older than William, giving the Red Sox first baseman a lot of older brother influence in their relationship. At World Series media day, Boston-based reporter Rob Bradford asked William Contreras what his older brother has taught him about baseball that has helped him reach the World Series, and his answer will make fans laugh.

"He always talks to me about [staying] calm, don't try to do too much and everything gonna happen," William Contreras said.

Red Sox fans can't believe the baseball lessons Brewers star William Contreras said he's learned from his brother Willson Contreras

The Contreras brothers and the word "calm" don't belong in the same sentence. During his first season with Boston, Red Sox fans quickly learned about Willson Contreras' fiery playing style. He started multiple bases-clearing confrontations — most often after being hit by a pitch — to rile his team up. Willson Contreras also celebrates his home runs with the best of them, screaming toward his teammates in the dugout and taking the longest, most triumphant trot around the bases.

William Contreras is less chippy than his elder brother, and even tried to get between him and his teammates during a dust-up between the Sox and Brewers. But the younger Contreras' homer trots and celebrations are just as high-energy as Willson's, if not more. William Contreras has been the Brewers' home run leader with three bombs in eight games, so fans might get lucky enough to see another long and wild trip around the bases this World Series.

Behind their highly competitive attitudes, the Contreras' support for each other is heartwarming. Playing in the major leagues with a brother is rare and the two take the time to inspire and uplift each other. But to say either one of them is "calm" isn't exactly true — but Sox and Brewers fans wouldn't have it any other way.
