Baseball season is fast approaching, but before the Boston Red Sox get into the games that count, they have a spring training slate ahead of them.
Red Sox pitchers and catchers reported to Fenway South in Fort Myers for spring training on February 11, the full squad followed a few days later and Grapefruit League play will soon begin. Boston will have 25 televised games fans can watch to get a sneak peek at some of the players who will be on the 2026 roster. Some of the games are even in the evening as opposed to the middle of the afternoon, giving even more fans a chance to watch or listen.
Many Sox players, including some who will make the Opening Day roster, will be absent from most of these games due to their participation in the World Baseball Classic. Some top names like Roman Anthony, Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu, Ceddanne Rafaela, Willson Contreras, Brayan Bello, Ranger Suárez and more will represent their home countries in the WBC, opening playing time for top prospects or unlikely Opening Day roster candidates.
The Red Sox will open their spring training slate with their annual matchup against the Northeastern University Huskies. Boston has already announced that prospects Tyler Uberstine, Jeremy Wu-Yelland, Wyatt OIds and Noah Song will pitch against the Huskies. Uberstine will get the nod as the starter. Payton Tolle will get the start in the Sox's first Grapefruit League game of the spring against the Minnesota Twins.
