The Boston Red Sox and fans have seen their fair share of benches-clearing incidents and brawls this season. Their chippy attitude reached the lower levels of the minor leagues on July 22.
Top Red Sox outfield prospect Justin Gonzales cracked a towering home run to left field. He celebrated, pulling on his Greenville Drive jersey in the direction of his teammates, and took his slow trot around the bases.
But the catcher for the High-A Hub City Spartanburgers didn't take Gonzales' antics well. Cal Stark jawed at Gonzales as he crossed the plate, to which the massive Red Sox prospect took objection. Gonzales started talking back, then the tiff became a shoving match as the runners Gonzales scored joined in. They held Gonzales back as he went after Stark. Gonzales landed a slap on his face that made the catcher's helmet fly off. Unfortunately, he hit his teammate Yoeilin Cespedes as well.
Gonzales was ejected following the brawl and MilB suspended him for one game. He returned from his punishment on July 26 and it was triumphant, indeed.

With a runner on second base in the ninth inning, when Greenville was down, 6-5, Gonzales crushed another massive homer over the mock-Monster in left field. The walk off was his 14th home run of the season — even better, it came against the Spartanburgers, the same team he was suspended for fighting.
Gonzales has been attracting attention to the Sox's farm system since his debut. His next-level power potential and huge stature are part of it, but he's also an emotional player who isn't afraid to flaunt his successes — most of his home run trots are even more animated than the one Stark disliked.
Gonzales has batted .263/.379/.451 with nine doubles, two triples and 42 RBI to go with his 14 home runs over 74 games. He's currently the No. 3 prospect in Boston's system, according to MLB Pipeline, and he'll only climb higher as his power continues to emerge. He's sure to grow into a fan-favorite as he moves up the system and becomes easier for fans to watch on a regular basis.
Gonzales' walk-off heroics show he can deliver through high tension and pressure. His suspension hasn't weighed on him and he met a huge moment for his teammates. If Red Sox fans weren't already excited about Gonzales's potential, he's given them plenty of reason to be now.
