The World Baseball Classic is an exciting time for baseball. It's a month where traditional fanbase lines are crossed, and national pride takes the forefront. That being said, fans still like seeing the players on their favorite team be the stars of the show.

This time around, Red Sox fans have a lot of players to watch for. Fifteen members of the Red Sox organization will be representing their countries in the tournament, which runs from March 4-17. Not every name will be familiar to Red Sox Nation, but there is certainly some star power at the top.

Ranking every Red Sox player in the World Baseball Classic

15 - Jack Anderson, RP, Great Britain

Anderson is a 26-year-old righty who was taken by the Sox in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 Draft in 2024. Anderson pitched in both Double-A and Triple-A in the organization last season, with a majority of those innings coming in Portland. He was initially selected by the Tigers in the 16th round of the 2021 Draft. He is not currently a top-60 prospect in the system, according to SoxProspects.

14 - Eduardo Rivera, RP, Puerto Rico

Rivera is a 22-year-old lefty who signed on with the Red Sox in 2024. He was an 11th-round draft pick by the A's in 2021 before being released, and made his Double-A debut last season. He posted a 3.40 ERA with Portland in 42.1 innings. He currently sits as the No. 41 prospect in the farm system according to SoxProspects.

13 - Tayron Guerrero, RP, Colombia

Guerrero is a 35-year-old righty who just joined the organization this winter. He made his major league debut in 2016 with the Padres, pitched in 2018-19 with the Marlins, and has been out of the majors since. In 2025, he pitched for the Chiba Lotte Mariners of NPB. Listed at 6'8'', 225 lbs, his fastball can reach triple digits.

12 - Jovani Morán, RP, Puerto Rico

Morán is the first player on the list who projects to get significant time in the majors this year. As things stand, the southpaw will be the No. 2 lefty in the Sox's 'pen to start the season, behind closer Aroldis Chapman. The 28-year-old has had dominant stretches in the majors, including a 2022 season in Minnesota where he posted a 2.21 ERA in 40.1 innings for the Twins, but missed all of 2024 and half of 2025 recovering from Tommy John surgery.

11 - Nate Eaton, OF, Great Britain

Eaton is going to assume the roles that David Hamilton and Rob Refsynder played for Boston last year. He is going to be the Sox's right-handed outfielder on the bench and be the go-to pinch runner late in games. The 28-year-old had a productive 2025, batting .296 with a .731 OPS, even though he had a limited amount of ABs. He also ranked in the 98th percentile in sprint speed.

10 - Greg Weissert, RP, Italy

After a breakout 2024, Weissert built on it with an even stronger 2025. He had a 2.82 ERA across 67 innings. The 31-year-old will take a similar role in the Sox's bullpen as last year. He will slot in behind Chapman and Whitlock, taking on sixth and seventh-inning responsibilities with Justin Slaten, completing one of the best bullpens in baseball.

9 - Masataka Yoshida, OF/DH, Japan

Yoshida finds himself in an unfortunate spot in Boston. When given the opportunity, he has played well, he hasn't had consistent chances since his first year with the club. The 32-year-old is cast as a roadblock to playing time for younger, better outfielders by the fanbase, by no fault of his own. Once his contract is up in two years, if the Sox don't bite the bullet and release him before that, he'll likely catch on with a team and perform well. For now, he'll just have to show off his skills in the WBC, where he led the entire 2023 tournament in RBIs

8 - Brayan Bello, SP, Domincan Republic

Bello really showed the potential that got him a long-term extension last season. He had a career low 3.35 ERA with a career high in innings pitched. He also posted career lows in hits per nine and walks per nine. Despite posting the best season of his career, Bello will be sliding back in the rotation to the No. 4 spot behind Sonny Gray and Ranger Suárez. That makes the 26-year-old one of the best No. 4 starters in baseball.

7 - Willson Contreras, 1B, Venezuela

The Red Sox's new first baseman has been one of the most consistent hitters in baseball since his rookie season in 2016. He has a career OPS of .811, and has been within .04 of that each of the last five seasons. He was also one of the best defensive first basemen in baseball last season, posting six Outs Above Average ranking in the 90th percentile in his first season at the position.

6 - Ceddanne Rafaela, OF, Netherlands

Rafaela is one of the best defensive players in baseball, regardless of position. The Red Sox centerfielder was tied for the second-best fielding run value in baseball last year and had the second-best Outs Above Average. He took a big leap forward at the plate in 2025 with career highs in hits, doubles, home runs, walks, batting average, OBP, SLG, and OPS. He also cut his strikeout rate from 26.4% to 19.9%.

5 - Wilyer Abreu, OF, Venezuela

The Red Sox also have an elite defender in right in Abreu, who is a lot more impactful at the plate. The 26-year-old has won back-to-back Gold Gloves in right field, and hit a career high in homers in 2025 despite posting 15 fewer games and 30 less plate appearances. The lefty is set to take on a bigger role against lefties in 2025, and has already had some highlight moments on the back fields this spring.

4 - Garrett Whitlock, RP, United States

The Red Sox setup man is one of the best relievers in baseball. His 2.2 fWAR was tied for third among all relievers last season, coming in behind only the Guardians' Cade Smith and Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman. Back in a full-time bullpen role for the first time since his rookie season in 2021, the 29-year-old fully settled in. He had a 2.25 ERA last season, and a 0.58 ERA from July 1 on — that's just two earned runs in his final 31 innings and also didn't allow a single inherited runner to score in that stretch.

3 - Jarren Duran, OF, Mexico

The fourth Red Sox outfielder showed his elite potential two seasons ago. Even though Duran took a step back in 2025, he was still tied for the best bWAR among Boston's outfielders. When at his best, Duran is a five-tool player. The 29-year-old has game-breaking speed, plays Gold-Glove caliber defense with an above-average arm, has 20+ homer pop, and can hit close to .300. He showed in 2024 that he can be a true star.

2 - Ranger Suárez, SP, Venezuela

The Red Sox's newest starter comes off his best year full-time in that role. The 30-year-old lefty is coming off a 2025 season in which he pitched to a 3.20 ERA in a career high 157.1 innings. He won't overpower many people on the mound, but he's a master at limiting hard contact and keeping the ball on the ground, evident by his 98th percentile hard-hit% and 76th percentile ground ball rate. Suárez has all the tools to be great, and now he is out of the shadow of Zach Wheeler, Aaron Nola, and Cristopher Sanchez in Philly.

1 - Roman Anthony, OF, United States

The youngest player the Sox are sending to the WBC is also the best of the bunch. Despite only having 71 games under his belt, Anthony showed why he was the No. 1 prospect in baseball. He hit .292 with an .859 OPS and racked up 3.1 bWAR (an 162-game pace of 7.1). He also showed an incredible ability to adjust to major league pitching early in his career. After a series in Philly in mid-July, where he had back-to-back four-strikeout games, six of which were by Wheeler and Sanchez, Anthony would hit .326 with a .957 OPS in his final 35 games after that. He has all the talent in the world and is going to be the next face of the Boston Red Sox.
