UPDATE: First pitch for the Rangers and Red Sox's May 6 game at Fenway Park will be at 7:15 p.m., according to a post from the team.
It's spring in New England, and the Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers are in for a rainy week at Fenway Park.
The two teams are slated to begin their second series of the year on May 6 in Boston, but rain has paused and postponed games across the Northeast since the month began. The Red Sox have announced that the first pitch in their series opener against the Rangers has been delayed. An estimated start time has not yet been reported.
According to AccuWeather, Boston should expect rain and scattered thunderstorms into 7:00 this evening, after the game's scheduled start time of 6:45. The rain is expected to slow from 8-10 p.m. and pick back up again in the 11:00 hour.
When the series begins, the Red Sox will seek revenge on the Rangers for the reverse-sweep they endured in opening week. Texas has lost eight of its last 10 games, which could give the Sox a perfect opportunity to bounce back from losing four of their last five.

Lucas Giolito will take the mound for Boston, fresh off a solid Red Sox debut against the Blue Jays on April 30. He pitched five scoreless innings, but surrendered consecutive homers in the sixth frame, which ended his outing on a sour note. Still, he looked great over 570 days removed from his most recent start in the major leagues in 2023.
Boston will face former Red Sox pitcher and 2018 World Series champion Nathan Eovaldi. The Sox already saw Eovaldi on Opening Day, when he held them to two runs over six innings. He's pitched to a 2.11 ERA with 46 strikeouts over 42.2 innings this season.
