The Boston Red Sox's "Big Three" prospects were called up to Triple-A Worcester on Aug. 12. Nine days later, top outfield prospect Roman Anthony is fitting in well and making his presence known at the next level.
It took the 20-year-old seven games to collect his first four-hit night with Worcester. He also mashed his first Triple-A home run, and it was a towering blast.
Anthony stepped up to the plate in the second inning of the WooSox's Aug. 20 matchup with the Norfolk Tides. He mashed a 415-foot, two-run homer off lefty Bruce Zimmermann to give his squad an early lead.
Anthony went 4-for-5 in a breakout night at the Triple-A level. Along with his homer, Anthony collected a double, three RBI and four runs — he raised his WooSox slash line to .333/.379/.556 from .227/.292/.318 the night before.

The outfielder got off to a hot start in Worcester before he stalled out a bit. Anthony went 3-for-4 with a double in his Triple-A debut on Aug. 13, then went hitless in his next four games. In his last two outings, Anthony has gone 6-for-8 at the dish.
Anthony has taken to Triple-A faster than one of his other "Big Three" counterparts, Kyle Teel. The 22-year-old catching prospect is slashing .095/.208/.095 in six games with Worcester. Six games is a small sample size and he has plenty of time to get comfortable and make an impact. Marcelo Mayer is yet to play a game for the WooSox, as he's been sidelined with a lower back/upper glute injury.
For now, Worcester's "Big Three" runs through Anthony. His huge night has Red Sox fans clamoring for the young outfielder's speedy ascension to the big leagues. He's predicted to post a 2025 MLB debut, and if he keeps racking up three-plus hit nights, Sox fans could see him sooner than later.
