Reds vs. Red Sox prediction and odds for Wednesday, May 31 (Take the OVER)
The Cincinnati Reds edged out the Boston Red Sox in an 9-8 shootout on Tuesday night.
The two teams will face each other in Game 2 of their interleague series on Wednesday. Will we see another offensive shootout tonight? I think there's plenty of reasons why we can expect that.
Let's dive into the odds for the game and then I'll break down why I think that's the case.
Reds vs. Red Sox odds, run line, and total
Reds vs. Red Sox prediction and pick
If you aren't convinced we'll see another offensive shootout tonight, just look at the pitching matchup.
Luke Weaver (5.45 ERA) of the Reds will take on James Paxton (5.14 ERA) of the Red Sox in a battle between two starts who have an ERA north of 5.00.
It also will help the score out that the Red Sox are sixth in the Majors in OPS against right-handed pitchers at .764 and the Reds are 10th in the Majors in OPS against left-handed pitchers at .771. With Weaver being a righty and Paxton being a lefty, both teams will get to use their offensive strength.
As a cherry on top, both bullpens have struggled in May. The Red Sox rank 19th in bullpen ERA this month at 4.27 and the Reds bullpen ranks 21st at 4.33.
Strap in and let's root for runs in tonight's interleague action.
