The Red Sox continue to hang around the American League Wild Card race, but can make a big push forward if Brayan Bello keeps up this fine form.
Bello has been at an elite level for much of this season with a high powered offense along side him. The Red Sox are in Chicago to take on the White Sox in hopes of bolstering its record over the weekend.
Can Bello keep it going against a lackluster offense? Here are the odds:
Red Sox vs. White Sox odds, run line and total
Red Sox vs. White Sox prediction and pick
Since his first start of the season in which he allowed five earned runs, Bello hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in his last 10 starts while striking out nearly three batters for every walk dished out.
He now gets to face a White Sox lineup that has the lowest on-base percentage in baseball this season. The team is bottom five in strikeout rate and walk rate and are struggling to get anything going at the plate.
Bello should roll on Friday, and the Red Sox offense that is a top five unit across the board should tag Lucas Giolito. The White Sox starter has strong numbers this season, posting a 3.54 ERA, but he has left 80% of runners on bae and has an xERA that is far higher at 4.24.
This is a mismatch and I'll take advantage at the near coin flip odds to back the far better team on the road.
