The New York Mets and Boston Red Sox are set to face-off in a three-game interleague series over the weekend.
The Red Sox are in the midst of a battle for a wild card spot, and likely will be for the rest of the season. That means every game from here on out is going to be important for them, and they'll hope they can take advantage of a flailing Mets squad.
Let's dive into the betting odds for Friday's series opener.
Mets vs. Red Sox odds, run line, and total
Mets vs. Red Sox prediction and pick
We have a fairly high total set for Friday's series opener, so I'm going to go ahead and take the UNDER 9.5.
Kutter Crawford (3.74 ERA) gets the start for the Red Sox. He's been red hot lately, and I expect his strong play to continue on Friday. In his three starts in July, he sports a 2-0 record and a 2.87 ERA.
Meanwhile, Kodai Senga gets the start for the Mets, and he has been hot for the Mets in July. In two starts this month, he has an ERA of 1.29 and has been a strong aspect of the Mets rotation.
I have faith the Red Sox can win this game, but based on the pitchers in this matchup, I think it's a better play from a betting perspective to take the UNDER instead.
