Kenley Jansen has been honest about his desire to pitch for a postseason contender. The closer did not get a single playoff appearance over his two seasons with the Boston Red Sox, and he isn't happy with his absence from the postseason.

Many fans concluded Jansen meant he hoped to play for the Dodgers. The 37-year-old shared during an appearance on the "Foul Territory" podcast that he hopes to retire with Los Angeles. Although he probably won't retire soon, Jansen's allegiance is clear.

The former Red Sox closer was pictured at Dodger Stadium during LA's first NLDS game against the Padres on Oct. 5, one week after his premature departure from his former team.

There were mixed reactions from Boston's players and staff regarding Jansen's absence at the end of the season. Anonymous players shared their disappointment with reporters but said they weren't surprised, given Jansen's attitude. Manager Alex Cora shared that he dismissed the veteran himself and that players could speak with him if they were upset.

There was no chance Jansen would pitch again in 2024 — the Red Sox were out of postseason contention and the closer was placed on the injured list with shoulder inflammation on Sept. 23. Leaving the Sox early was a bad look, regardless. Jansen was the most experienced player and one of the most expensive on the 2024 Red Sox squad, and forfeiting his responsibilities early may not sit well with any team looking to sign him for 2025 and beyond.

Jansen still seems close with Dodgers media members and he's shown that he hopes to get back to the organization he spent the first 12 years of his career with. The closer will be a pricey addition to any club next season, and only the highest-value teams are expected to be in on his market when free agency opens in a few weeks. LA will certainly be among them, and Jansen has made his hopes for the future clear.
