Mike Romero returns to the Boston Red Sox prospect watch

The Boston Red Sox are winning a lot all of a sudden and find themselves right back in serious playoff contention. Unsurprisingly, it has been some of the young guys on the roster who are continuing to lead the way.

Meanwhile, we are seeing a few more big promotions, and Mikey Romero is back in Single-A and has officially made his 2023 MiLB debut.

If Jarren Duran was named an All-Star would anyone be able to complain? He's been that good. The left-handed hitting outfielder is slashing .320/.367/.519 with 27 doubles, two triples, and five home runs. He's driven in 33 runs, scored 32 more, and stolen 17 bases.

Connor Wong has picked it back up at the plate. The right-handed hitting catcher is slashing .235/.296/.407 with 17 doubles and six home runs. Wong has driven in 20 runs, scored 31 more, and stolen two bases.

Triston Casas is slashing .225/.330/.398 with 14 doubles, one triple, and nine home runs. The left-handed hitting first baseman has driven in 27 runs and scored 34 more. Could a big second half be on the horizon?

Masataka Yoshida is slashing .316/.382/.492 with 19 doubles, two triples, and 10 home runs. The left-handed hitting outfielder has driven in 44 runs, scored 47 more, and stolen six bases. Yoshida's been even better than advertised.

Wow is Brayan Bello special. The right-handed starting pitcher has a 3.04 ERA, .239 BAA, and 1.19 WHIP in 80 innings. He's walked 22 batters and struck out 70. Bello looks like a true ace that the Red Sox could have for another decade-plus.

Chris Murphy continues to be a fantastic left-handed weapon out of the pen. The reliever has a 2.16 ERA, .210 BAA, and 1.26 WHIP in 16 2/3 innings. He's struck out 17 batters and walked eight while only surrendering one home run.

Brandon Walter has also been a welcome addition to the bullpen. The left-handed pitcher has a 2.31 ERA, .239 BAA, and 1.20 WHIP in 11 2/3 innings. He has struck out six batters and walked three. Walter even picked up the first save of his career this week.
