Boston Red Sox Prospect Watch: Greenville no-hitter, Allan Castro, Niko Kavadas

We're officially at the all-star break, which means the Boston Red Sox Prospect Watch has next week off. However, there's plenty to talk about this week to tide us over.

A trio of Greenville pitchers combined for a no-hitter, Kristian Campbell won't stop mashing, Roman Anthony won the first-ever Futures Skills Showcase, and Allan Castro was seeing beach balls.

In Triple-A, Niko Kavadas had a fantastic week. The left-handed hitting first baseman went 8-for-16 with three doubles, two home runs, and eight RBI. Kavadas is slashing .294/.433/.571 with 18 doubles and 16 home runs. He's driven in 60 runs and scored 50.

Matthew Lugo went 6-for-18 with two doubles and a home run this week. The right-handed hitting outfielder has picked it back up at the plate and went into the all-star break with a .263 average (.354 OBP) with nine doubles and five home runs in 28 Triple-A games. He's driven in 18 runs, scored 18 more, and stolen five bases.

Nick Yorke went 6-for-18 with two home runs. The right-handed hitting second baseman/left fielder is slashing .322/.416/.525 with six doubles and six home runs since being promoted to Triple-A. He's driven in 17 runs, scored 29 more, and stolen six bases in 30 games.

Mickey Gasper has been Worcester's best hitter since being promoted to Triple-A, and it's not particularly close. The switch-hitting catcher/first baseman is slashing .385/.500/.628 with seven doubles and four home runs. He's driven in 19 runs and scored 18 in 23 games (78 at-bats).

Bryan Mata allowed three runs over three innings in two appearances this week. The right-handed pitcher looked great for the most part and is flirting with 100 MPH on his fastball. The Red Sox need to make a decision now on what they are doing with Mata — when the Red Sox come back from the All-Star break, he'll either be on the roster or in another organization.

Luis Guerrero had a massive week. The righty reliever allowed two hits in 4 1/3 scoreless innings over three appearances. He racked up eight strikeouts and only walked two batters. Guerrero has a 3.34 ERA, .211 BAA, and 1.46 WHIP in 27 appearances. He's struck out 47 batters compared to 24 walks in 35 innings.

Brian Van Belle tossed 4 2/3 scoreless innings in his lone relief outing. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits without walking anyone and striking out five. He has a 5.80 ERA but is coming off back-to-back solid appearances.

Boston Red Sox Double-A (Portland)

Portland's "Big Three" didn't play much this week. They were busy doing things up at the Future's All-Star game. Marcelo Mayer went 0-for-2, but Kyle Teel went 2-for-2 with two doubles. Meanwhile, Roman Anthony won the first-ever Futures Skill Showcase. It was a fun week for Boston's top-three prospects.

Kristian Campbell has at least one hit in 30-of-32 games he's appeared in for Portland. The right-handed hitting second baseman/center fielder is slashing .407/.507/.627 with 12 doubles, one triple, and four home runs in Double-A. He's driven in 19 runs, scored 32, and stolen seven bags.

Eddinson Paulino was having a big week before an injury sidelined him. The left-handed hitting infielder went 6-for-14 with a double and four RBI. Pauli's up to a .263 average with 16 doubles, three triples, and three home runs. He's driven in 35 runs, scored 33 more, and stolen 10 bases.

Alex Binelas came up with a few big hits and is quietly having a strong season in Double-A. The left-handed hitting corner infielder is slashing .243/.377/.417 with seven doubles, three triples, and four home runs. He's driven in 32 runs, scored 27, and stolen seven bags.

Elih Marrero is on a five-game hitting streak. The switch-hitting catcher is slashing .304/.381/.446 with five doubles and one home run in Double-A. He's driven in seven runs, scored seven, and swiped three bases.

Tyler Miller had a hit in all three games he appeared in this week, including two doubles. The left-handed hitting corner infielder is hitting .263 with eight doubles and one home run since being promoted to Double-A. He's driven in 15 runs, scored 17 more, and stolen two bases.

Phillip Sikes went 3-for-15 but did have a double, a home run, and four RBI. He also drew six walks. The left-handed hitting outfielder is hitting .244 (.332 OBP) with 14 doubles and five home runs. He's driven in 25 runs, scored 36, and stolen 12 bases.

Hunter Dobbins had a massive week. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits over eight scoreless innings in two starts. Dobby walked two batters and struck out eight. He has a 3.54 ERA, .233 BAA, and 1.26 WHIP in 15 starts. Pidgeotto has struck out 68 batters compared to 30 walks in 73 2/3 innings.

Isaac Coffey surrendered three hits in five scoreless innings. The righty didn't walk anyone (although he hit three batters) and struck out six. Coffey has a 3.71 ERA and .228 BAA this season. He's struck out 78 batters compared to 37 walks in 68 innings. Coffey has just three homers allowed this year after giving up 22 in 117 2/3 innings last season.

Wikelman Gonzalez tossed three shutout innings. The right-handed pitcher allowed one hit and no walks while striking out two batters. He's now thrown nine scoreless innings over his last three appearances. Gonzalez still has a 6.47 ERA, but it continues to trend in the right direction, and a .226 BAA with 54 strikeouts in 48 2/3 innings is encouraging.

Jacob Webb gave up one unearned run on one hit in three innings. The righty struck out two and walked one. Webb is down to a 3.58 ERA this season and has 47 strikeouts compared to 15 walks in 50 1/3 innings.

Christopher Troye allowed two runs on two hits in four innings over two appearances. The right-handed reliever walked one batter and struck out seven. CT holds a 6.98 ERA but continues to look much better since returning to the team in the middle of June.

Boston Red Sox High-A (Greenville)

Allan Castro is seeing beach balls out there right now. The switch-hitting outfielder went 8-for-18 with four home runs and eight RBI. Castro is slashing .239/.365/.434 with 16 doubles, two triples, and 11 home runs. He's driven in 35 runs, scored 49, and stolen eight bags.

Unsurprisingly, Jhostynxon Garcia hit another home run this week. The right-handed hitting outfielder is slashing .303/.361/.636 with eight doubles and 12 home runs since being promoted to High-A. He's driven in 21 runs and scored 28 more in 34 games.

Mikey Romero went 6-for-21 with three doubles. The left-handed hitting shortstop has a .226 batting average with 12 doubles, four triples, and two home runs in High-A. He's driven in 15 runs, scored 23 more, and swiped one base.

Miguel Bleis snapped a seven-game hitting streak on July 14 but still boosted his average from .125 to .180 in that stretch. The right-handed hitting outfielder is starting to pick things up in High-A and logged a double and a home run this week. He's also up to 28 stolen bases between both levels this year.

Ronald Rosario had a hit in all five games this week. The right-handed hitting catcher is up to a .249 average with 16 doubles, one triple, and three home runs. He's already driven in 40 runs, scored 27, and stolen two bases. There are a few career-highs on the horizon for Rosie.

Another big week has Luis Ravelo up to a .387 average in July. The switch-hitting infielder is hitting .221 on the season with 12 doubles, one triple, and three home runs. He's driven in 26 runs, scored 26 more, and stolen one base.

Eduardo Lopez posted a massive 4-for-4 game and he's hitting .444 in July. The switch-hitting first baseman/outfielder has a .231/.336/.423 slash line with seven doubles, three triples (career-high), and four home runs. He's driven in 21 runs, scored 20 more, and stolen three bags.

Dalton Rogers started Greenville's no-hitter this week, tossing four scoreless innings. The left-handed pitcher walked three batters and struck out five.

Next up was Jeremy Wu-Yelland. The lefty reliever tossed two scoreless innings. He walked one batter and struck out three. Wu-Yelland has a 4.50 ERA and .170 BAA in 14 innings this season.

Finally, Zach Fogell shut the door with a perfect seventh inning. He struck out two batters. The left-handed reliever has a 3.02 ERA, .202 BAA, and 1.25 WHIP this season. He's struck out 56 batters compared to 23 walks in 44 2/3 innings between Single-A and High-A.

Yordanny Mongero posted another masterclass. The right-handed pitcher tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and one walk. Meanwhile, he struck out a season-high eight batters. Mongero's had ups and downs since returning from injury, but this was a fantastic way to go into the All-Star break.

Jedixson Paez allowed one run on two hits over five innings. The righty struck out eight batters and walked one. Paez is down to a 2.67 ERA, .191 BAA, and 0.82 WHIP in High-A. He has 80 strikeouts compared to eight walks in 62 1/3 total innings this season (Single-A and High-A).

Hayden Mullins gave up two hits over four shutout innings. The left-handed pitcher struck out five batters without walking any. Mullins has a 3.38 ERA, .213 BAA, and 1.23 WHIP in 15 games (13 starts). He's struck out 81 batters compared to 26 walks in 58 2/3 innings.

David Sandlin allowed two runs on three hits in four innings in his lone start. The righty struck out seven batters without walking any. Sandlin has a 4.60 ERA, .222 BAA, and 1.16 WHIP in 29 1/3 innings. He's racked up 46 strikeouts and only 10 walks this season.

Nathan Landry's had some struggles, but he's been fantastic in July. The left-handed reliever has allowed one run on three hits over five innings (two appearances). He's struck out eight batters compared to just one walk.

Boston Red Sox Single-A (Salem)

Antonio Anderson has raised his batting average for a sixth consecutive week. Double-A saw a slight boost from .162 to .165 and added two more doubles this week. The switch-hitting third baseman has a .292 OBP with 12 doubles and four home runs. He's driven in 23 runs, scored 35, and stolen three bases.

Nazzan Zanetello went 4-for-17 with a home run and four walks. The right-handed hitting shortstop has a .196 average with eight doubles and five home runs. He's driven in 16 runs, scored 20 more, and stolen one base in 40 games.

Andy Lugo hit his first two home runs. The right-handed hitting utility player is slashing .266/.339/.393 with 23 doubles, one triple, and two home runs. He's driven in 28 runs, scored 33 more, and stolen 19 bags.

Matt Duffy gave up two hits over four scoreless innings. The right-handed pitcher struck out four batters and walked one. Duffy has a 3.62 ERA, .238 BAA, and 1.22 WHIP in 15 starts. He's struck out 60 batters and walked 21 in 64 2/3 innings.

Jojo Ingrassia allowed one unearned run on three hits over 3 2/3 innings. The lefty struck out seven batters without walking any. Ingrassia has a 2.03 ERA, .187 BAA, and 0.99 WHIP in 18 games (nine starts). He's struck out 86 batters compared to 17 walks in 53 1/3 innings.

Noah Dean didn't have his best start, allowing seven runs (six earned) over four innings. However, the left-handed pitcher did strike out eight batters and achieved an immaculate inning in the third. Dean's having a fantastic year and should be in Greenville soon.

Max Carlson tossed four shutout innings over two appearances this week. The righty reliever gave up three hits and no walks while striking out six batters. Carlson has a 2.13 ERA, .212 BAA, and 1.13 WHIP in Single-A. He's struck out 59 batters compared to 15 walks in 42 1/3 innings.

Royman Blanco also tossed four scoreless innings over two appearances. The right-handed reliever gave up one hit and no walks while striking out four batters. Blanco has a 3.94 ERA, .261 BAA, and 1.29 WHIP in 45 2/3 innings.

Danny Kirwin didn't allow a run over three hitless innings. The righty reliever struck out four batters and walked two. Kirwin has a 3.82 ERA, .169 BAA, and 1.06 WHIP in 37 2/3 innings.
