Boston Red Sox Probable Pitchers & Starting lineup vs. Minnesota Twins, April 18
Boston Red Sox probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Minnesota Twins, April 18
The Boston Red Sox had an impressive series win, taking three of four at home against the Los Angeles Angels. They'll look to take that momentum into the series against the Twins and will look to get back over .500 with another series victory.
Probable starting pitchers
The Red Sox will send Chris Sale to the mound for his fourth start of the season in their search for some length. The southpaw has had a rough start to his season as he currently boasts an ERA of 11.25 in just 12 innings of work. His most recent start in Tampa Bay wasn't great, as he allowed six runs (five earned) and seven hits in four innings.
Opposing Sale will be Sonny Gray. The Twins right-hander has looked like prime Chris Sale in his first three starts of the season, allowing just one run in 17 innings of work. He has a 0.53 ERA and has 19 strikeouts in his 17 innings of work. The Red Sox will have their work cut out for them. Fortunately, Gray has really struggled against the Red Sox in his career as he has a career 6.80 ERA against them. He's been even worse at Fenway, posting an ERA of 8.02 in six appearances (five starts) in Beantown.
