Astros vs. Red Sox prediction and odds for Tuesday, Aug. 29 (Back Boston with Bello starting)

Brayan Bello gives Boston an edge on Tuesday night.

The Boston Red Sox need as many wins as they can get to stay in the wild card race in the American League, especially against a team like the Houston Astros.

However, Boston was dominated on Monday night, losing 13-5 after Kyle Barraclough gave up 10 runs in relief.

The Red Sox have a chance to bounce back on Tuesday with Brayan Bello on the mound against J.P. France.

Let’s examine the odds for this game, and I’ll break down my best bet as well:

Astros vs. Red Sox odds, run line and total

Astros vs. Red Sox prediction and pick

Boston should be able to bounce back in this spot, as it tagged France for 10 runs in 2.1 innings of work back on Aug. 24.

The Astros righty has been solid this season, but he does have a Fielding Independent Pitching of 4.37, which suggests that his ERA may be a little lower than how he’s actually performing.

Boston also got to Cristian Javier on Monday before Barraclough imploded to lose Boston the game. I don’t think the team’s offense (top 10 in OPS over the last two weeks) is an issue here.

Bello pitched seven innings of one-run ball in his last start against Houston, and while he gave up nine hits, he’s shown an ability to work out of high-hit games all season. The young righty has given up 128 hits in 126.1 innings this season.

Boston is 15-7 when Bello starts this season, and he’s posted a 3.26 ERA in five starts this month. I’ll gladly take him against France in this matchup.
