Alex Cora and Rafael Devers are no longer members of the Boston Red Sox, but that doesn't mean that both men don't still influence fans and the general feeling surrounding the organization.
Since his firing on April 25, Cora has remained a factor in the MLB world, even though he's been generally minding his own business and spending time with his family.
For one thing, Cora was almost immediately offered the Philadelphia Phillies job after getting dumped by Boston (he declined). He's also been impactful — and humorous — on social media. The day after Cora was fired, he posted the one-word message "Happy!" with a smiling emoji to his Twitter/X profile, sending fans into a hurricane of mixed reactions.
Happy!

😊
Cora also posted some 'look how happy I am without the Red Sox'-type photos to his Instagram account in the immediate wake of getting fired, one of them famously depicting a beaming Cora surrounded by the rest of Boston's banished coaches (all smiling). He also posted an Instagram story subliminally reminding us all how dumb the Red Sox's front office was for trading Mookie Betts.
It doesn't take Cora many words to send a strong message on socials. And he returned to the social media landscape in recent days to seemingly comment on the latest Rafael Devers controversy.
Alex Cora just stirred up Red Sox fans again with a tweet seemingly aimed at Rafael Devers
For those who haven't been monitoring Devers' life out in San Francisco with the Giants, he got into some hot water on Sunday when he tried to tell his pinch-runner to go back to the dugout. The strategy was obviously short-lived, and a livid Devers moped back to San Fran's dugout himself. He's since blamed the media for blowing the situation out of proportion. Classic Raffy.
Anyway, within minutes of the drama unfolding, Cora posted a cryptic tweet that got fans all riled up:
But, but… 🤐
— Alex (@ac13alex) June 21, 2026
The meaning of the post was, unfortunately, a tad unclear. Was Cora predicting that Devers would soon be excusing himself for his outburst (a prediction that came 100% true, given Devers' finger-pointing at the media)? Or, was Cora simply commenting on the problematic nature of Devers' behavior, reminding Red Sox fans of what Cora had to deal with in Boston?
Whatever Cora meant by the message, Red Sox fans noticed, and it has them thinking about Devers all over again. But can you really blame anyone for distracting themselves from the Red Sox's current season? We're looking at arguably the worst Red Sox team in over six decades.
Sure, Devers was a thorn in the side at times, but at least he provided some pop at the plate. And his outbursts would have provided some entertainment during a 2026 season that has been severely unentertaining.
