The Boston Red Sox won 15 consecutive games to tie the franchise record set by the 1946 club that included legends like Ted Williams, Bobby Doerr and Dom DiMaggio. The Red Sox completely transformed their season in a matter of weeks, thrusting themselves into a Wild Card spot just as the regular season begins to heat up for playoff chases.

The Red Sox weren't going to keep winning forever, and unfortunately the division rival Baltimore Orioles on July 22 put a stop to their utter dominance. But Red Sox fans never want the streak to end: so let's reminisce.

Willson Contreras' three-run home runs against the Angels

Willson Contreras started Boston's hot streak off with a bang (well, actually two) and stayed hot the entire time. He crushed two three-run home runs against the Los Angeles Angels. His first, from July 4, opened the scoring for the Red Sox, and since they held the Angels to two runs, it was all they needed to win. The next day, his third-inning three-run bomb was again the difference maker that led to a sweep.

Jake Bennett's emergence

The Red Sox's starting pitching has been incredible for much of the year, but Jake Bennett established himself as a critical piece of the rotation during the 15-game run. Bennett made four starts during the hot streak and posted a stellar 1.71 ERA over 26.1 innings of work.

Bennett's middle two outings — his July 8 start against the Chicago White Sox and his July 17 appearance against the Tampa Bay Rays — were scoreless over seven and six innings, respectively. The Red Sox, behind a scoreless outing from Bennett, out-Raysed the Rays on July 17. Carlos Narváez and Tsung-Che Cheng tapped flawless, back-to-back bunts, plating a run apiece.

Boston started slugging during its winning streak and 23 of its 96 home runs on the season have come in July. But the Red Sox found every way to score throughout the winning streak, including through some excellent small ball.

Jahmai Jones' July 18 home run

Jahmai Jones on July 18 made his first Red Sox start and he didn't take long to announce himself to the Fenway Faithful. In his first at-bat of the day, he crushed a two-run homer over the Green Monster to tie the game at two.

Boston has an uncanny ability to make folk heroes out of quieter players (think Dominic Smith in 20204 and Pablo Reyes' walk-off grand slam in 2022) and Jones quickly earned himself a seat at the table.

Wilyer Abreu's two July 18 home runs against the Rays

Jones wasn't the only hero in Boston's nailbiter of a win against Tampa. Wilyer Abreu crushed two lead-changing home runs to secure the Sox's 7-6 win. In the third inning, he knocked a solo homer to give the Red Sox a 3-2 lead. Then, after the Rays scratched and clawed for four more runs, Abreu guaranteed Boston's win with a two-run blast in the seventh frame. Caleb Durbin's reaction says what every Sox fan felt in the moment.

Caleb Durbin's July 20 homer against the Orioles

Durbin came to the plate in the eighth inning of a 5-5 game against the Orioles and gave the Red Sox exactly what they needed. He lifted a solo home run into the Monster seats to give Boston the edge it needed to keep its win streak alive against another red-hot club.

Tsung-Che Cheng's July 20 catch against the Orioles

Durbin gave the Red Sox the score they needed to win their series opener against Baltimore, but Cheng's ninth-inning heroics saved the day. The Orioles had runners at second and third base with one out left in the game. Tyler O'Neill almost tied the game with an RBI knock, but his line drive zipped right to Cheng. The 24-year-old leaped and snagged what was possibly the game-tying hit out of the air to save the Sox's streak.

Jarren Duran's July 22 triple against the Orioles

In game 15 of the winning streak, Boston jumped right on Orioles starter Dean Kremer, but Jarren Duran was the nail in the coffin. With runners on first and second base, Duran laced his third triple of the year into right field. He lifted the Sox to a 4-0 lead en route to a 6-3 win to tie franchise history.
