After a wild Home Run Derby that included a standout performance from Willson Contreras, the All-Star Game is finally here. The Boston Red Sox have three representatives: Contreras, Aroldis Chapman and Ceddanne Rafaela. Ranger Suarez would've participated if he were healthy and Sonny Gray should've taken his place, but Sox fans will take what they can get.

The game offers fans a chance to look back on the best performances of the first half that helped the Red Sox get to where they are in the standings — two games under .500 and just half a game back of the third Wild Card spot. The Midsummer Classic also gives fans a surge of memories in the form of former players.

These four former Red Sox will suit up for their current teams in the July 14 All-Star Game. Some of them are regular All-Stars. For others, it's been years since they last appeared, and one is making their All-Star debut.

Kyle Schwarber

Kyle Schwarber is one of the frequent All-Stars. He almost had a Home Run Derby win to add to his list of accolades, to go along with his heroic performance in last year's All-Star Game home run swing off to take the win for the National League.

Schwarber could've returned to the American League last offseason, as he reached free agency for the second time after his four-year deal with the Philadelphia Phillies, this year's All-Star host team, expired. Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow didn't go after him hard enough, so Sox fans will only have his 2021 run to look back on.

Chris Sale

As if Sox fans needed any reminders of the brutal trade that send him out of Boston, Chris Sale has made his third All-Star Game in as many years since his move to the Atlanta Braves, his 1t0th All-Star nod of his illustrious career. He's posted a 2.46 ERA, 1.035 WHIP and 390 strikeouts over 303.1 innings since his move to Atlanta two and a half seasons ago.

The Red Sox have more than enough skilled pitchers to make up for the loss of Sale — Suarez earned an All-Star spot, Gray deserved one and Payton Tolle is shaping up to be a fixture of the team. But Sale's 2018 title-winning run with Boston will be hard to top.

Eduardo Rodriguez

Another fixture of the winningest Red Sox team of all time, Eduardo Rodriguez, has made his first All-Star Game in his age-33 season (subscription required). Rodriguez has posted a 2.29 ERA over 114 frames for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Rodriguez posted one of the best seasons of his career (3.82 ERA, 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings) with the 2018 Sox. He came in sixth place in the American League Cy Young Award race a year later and helped Boston on its way to its 2021 ALCS run. Finally, Rodriguez is rewarded for his 11 years in the big leagues with an All-Star appearance.

Michael Wacha

Michael Wacha was a Red Sox for just one season but he endeared himself to fans with his performance in the rotation. He clocked a 3.32 ERA and 1.115 WHIP over 127.1 innings with Boston in 2022, his best season in four years, which helped spark his career again.

Wacha has been a Kansas City Royal for the last three seasons and he's made his first All-Star Game since his 2015 appearance with the St. Louis Cardinals. There have been many waves of rumors that the Red Sox were interested in reuniting with Wacha after his lone season in Boston, but no reunion occurred.
