The Boston Red Sox addressed some of their needs this offseason, to be sure. The additions of Garrett Crochet and Walker Buehler give the team a much better rotation and the ability to compete in the always-challenging American League East Division.
Red Sox pitchers and catchers will be heading to Florida in under a month, and before you know it, spring training will be well underway. Boston vowed to make this a busy offseason, and while it has made some moves, more can be done
The team didn't improve itself with any proven bats, particularly right-handed bats, and hasn't spent the money the front office vowed to spend. They only have a few more weeks to prove that their offseason declarations were not just words. Let's take a look at some things the Red Sox can do to improve their team before the offseason officially ends.
3 final moves the Red Sox could make before spring training begins
Sign Alex Bregman
The Red Sox have on again and off again been rumored to be in the Alex Bregman market. There are reportedly at least five teams still in on Bregman and, according to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Red Sox are among them. He named Boston as the best fit for the veteran on a recent episode of MLB Network's "Hot Stove."
Bregman would shore up the middle of the Red Sox defense at second base and provide much-needed right-handed power to the Sox lineup. The Red Sox front office assured fans they would spend this offseason, and this would back up that statement.

Add Bullpen Depth
The Red Sox signed Aroldis Chapman earlier this spring, and Cora announced that Garrett Whitlock would be going back to the pen this season. The team also has Liam Hendriks returning after nearly two years away from baseball due to injury. Still, the Red Sox could use more depth and perhaps more insurance at the bank end of the bullpen should Hendriks falter or Chapman show his age. Justin Slaten is a solid piece, but the Red Sox have room for another veteran, particularly after losing out on reliable veteran reliever Chris Martin.
Trade for Nolan Arenado
Nolan Arenado has the Red Sox on the short list of teams to which he's willing to be traded and could be a perfect veteran bat to add to this lineup. The Sox wouldn't even have to close the door on Bregman to acquire Arenado.
Like Bregman, Arenado has stated that he's willing to change positions if he is traded to the right team. Moving him to first base would certainly only improve the Red Sox defense and could free the team up to consider moving Triston Casas for an arm. They could also package Masataka Yoshida and a minor leaguer for some bullpen depth, which would allow them to keep Casas as the everyday DH.
