Who should replace Dennis Eckersley on Red Sox broadcasts?

Earlier this month, Dennis Eckersley announced that this will be his final year in the NESN broadcast booth.

The news came as a surprise to many and – barring a miraculous turnaround to the season – is the cherry on top of the crap sundae that’s been the 2022 Boston Red Sox season. To think that the two voices we have heard for decades are no longer in our years within the same year.

With Eck leaving the booth this opens a spot in the booth, but NESN should also seize the opportunity to kick Dave O’Brian from the booth as well. I have yet to see anything positive about him on Twitter.

They have plenty of options to replace both men. My favorite duo and the two men that should be the voices of Boston baseball for years to come are Kevin Youkilis and Mike Monaco. They have had plenty of moments in the booth together this year and have been phenomenal together.

I have seen nothing but love and praise for these two men. I have loved every second they are in the booth together. It gives me vibes of a younger version of Don Orsillo and Mark Grant in San Diego.

Youkilis brings his knowledge and in-game experience similar to how Rem Dawg and Eck brought their knowledge to the booth and Monaco just knows how to entertain the audience while still keeping the spotlight on the game. You could compare him to Vin Scully or Don Orsillo.

NESN has already messed this booth up once when they let Orsillo walk and head to San Diego. They are now being handed the opportunity to make up for that and give the fans what they want. No one really wants O’Brian in the booth.

Please NESN, give us the wonderful duo of Youkilis and Monaco. Let these two create art over the beautiful game of baseball and be the new voices of the Boston Red Sox.
