Red Sox and Yankees clash again on Opening Day
Red Sox Nation, the day we’ve been longing for has finally arrived, It’s Opening Day! While we were originally set to kick off the 2022 season at home against the Tampa Bay Rays, the lockout forced a bit of a scheduled shuffle. Now the Boston boys of summer are in the Bronx where they’ll have to battle Gerrit Cole and the Yankees in a weekend series to start the year.
As we all know, the Red Sox will be sending their ace to the mound in a rematch of the 2021 AL Wild Card Game. Nathan Eovaldi will be on the hill for a history-making third Opening Day in a row. Hopefully, the story goes just as it did on that October night and the Boston bats are able to knock Cole out of the game early en route to their first victory of the season.
While the rest of the league got their seasons started yesterday, those of us in the Northeast know all too well that the weather was pretty soggy on Thursday. We may have had to wait another day but now we’ll get a nice weekend duel against the team we love to hate the most. The Yankees were relatively quiet this winter only making some moves here and there while Chaim Bloom and the Sox addressed some needs while also adding superstar Trevor Story.
With that all said, let’s get down to the important details. Just how in the hell are we going to be able to watch these two historic franchises battle it out? Luckily there is a mountain of ways that Red Sox Nation can tune in whether they’re local in the New England area or around the country. I’ll list options ranging from television, streaming, and even over the airwaves so everyone’s bases are covered.
Let’s play ball!
Red Sox v. Yankees on Television:
- NESN will carry the game in the New England region
- YES Network will have it in New York and surrounding areas
- MLB Network has the game for those out of both markets
Red Sox v. Yankees Streaming:
- Sling TV and Fubo TV both carry the MLB Network and will have the game offered today
Red Sox v. Yankees on the Radio:
- MLB At-Bat will have the WEEI broadcast of today’s game
Opening Day is always something that baseball fans have circled on their calendars and it always feels like Christmas morning when it arrives. Today is no different and with the offseason misery brought on by the lockout, this game couldn’t have come soon enough. This will also mark the first game the Red Sox will play without beloved color commentator and former infielder Jerry Remy. The team will wear a patch on their jerseys in his memory and honor.
The latest chapter in the Red Sox – Yankees rivalry kicks off at 1:05 from Yankees Stadium in the Bronx. Again, we’ll get a Postseason rematch as Nathan Eovaldi looks to build on his Opening Day success against Gerrit Cole and the dangerous New York lineup. Both teams won’t be willing to give up an inch as every divisional game won or lost could mean the difference between golfing and baseball in October.
