After splitting the first two games of the pennant series, the Red Sox and Astros are in Boston for the next three games.

The Red Sox have the upper hand for the first time in the series. While the Astros are without ace starter Lance McCullers Jr. and potentially fellow starter Luis Garcia, who was pulled after one inning on Saturday, the Sox have been making history by hitting grand slams left and right.

Can the next-level atmosphere at Fenway Park propel the Sox to the World Series?

Red Sox Pitcher Today: Eduardo Rodriguez

After struggling through 1 2/3 innings in his first postseason start in Game 1 of the ALDS, Eduardo Rodriguez redeemed himself in Game 4, pitching five innings on shorter rest than usual. He allowed two earned runs, but struck out six (tying his postseason career-high) and didn’t issue a walk.

ERod made two scoreless relief appearances against Houston in the 2018 ALCS, including closing Game 3.

However, Rodriguez has a lifetime 8.53 ERA against the Astros over six career starts, and they’ve slashed .333/.405/.543 with a .948 OPS against him. Maybe the Red Sox can help him out by hitting another pair of grand slams.

The Astros will send José Urquidy to the mound. He had a 3.62 ERA in 20 regular-season starts, but has yet to pitch in the postseason this year. During the Astros’ 2020 postseason run, he allowed at least one earned run and walked one or more batters in each of his four appearances. In Game 3 of the ALDS, the Oakland A’s hit four home runs off him.

Urquidy has faced the Red Sox once in his career, and only allowed one earned run on three hits over six innings. He walked one and struck out nine.

Red Sox vs Astros Prediction Today

Red Sox will win a nail-biter. ERod will pitch at least four innings, and the Sox won’t have to force Nick Pivetta into another high-stakes relief appearance. Kiké Hernández will hit another home run.
