Red Sox players freak out about Hunter Renfroe’s heroic game
Wednesday night’s Red Sox game was the Hunter Renfroe show.
From adding to his MLB-leading outfield assist count to hitting the go-ahead home run that gave the Red Sox one of their most epic victories of the season, Renfroe did it all.
In case you missed it, this is how the game ended:
The underrated outfielder also hit the two-run homer into the top of the Monster seats that drove in the only pair of runs the Sox would get all night. The game had been a scoreless pitchers’ duel until the eighth inning, with starter Nathan Eovaldi throwing seven scoreless innings of three-hit ball. Thanks to Renfroe, the Red Sox won 2-1, ending the season series against the Rays on a high note after back-to-back losses.
Renfroe’s second home run of the month was also his 27th in a Red Sox uniform, now the second-most he’s ever hit in a single season. His record is 33 home runs in 2019, something he could potentially reach again, the way he’s hitting.
Red Sox players absolutely lost their minds over Hunter Renfroe’s epic performance
Typically, when a player on the Red Sox has a good night, they’ll repost some content from the team page that highlights them. Who can blame them for being proud of their accomplishments?
But on Wednesday night, everyone was posting about Renfroe.
Xander Bogaerts – who is most certainly the captain even without a ‘C’ on his jersey – dedicated two Instagram stories to the clutch outfielder.
Christian Arroyo wrote, “LFG YOU SAVAGE” next to a photo of Renfroe’s bat flip.
Garrett Richards, who has gone from rotation dud to bullpen stud, shared a Red Sox post captioned “Hunter Renfroe did it.” and wrote “AND I AM HERE FOR IT!” with 11 flame emojis.
Kiké Hernández called it “The Hunter Renfroe Show” in one story, and wrote “It’s Hunter Renfroe’s world and we’re just living in it!!” in a second.
Kevin Plawecki called him “Clutch” and Jarren Duran wrote, “Do it fro bro!!!”
In addition to resharing his teammates’ posts, Renfroe shared a photo of himself hugging Alex Cora and simply wrote “MOOD.”
A mood, indeed.
