#4: The Evolution of Christian Vazquez

This has been one of my favorite storylines throughout this year. Christian Vazquez has become an absolute beast not only at the plate but behind it as well. When the Red Sox placed their full confidence in him to lead this pitching staff he took it as a challenge and has succeeded.

You may be shouting at your screen that this pitching staff is awful, and there may be some meat on that bone. But he can’t control the health of other players or manage their workload, he’s succeeded with what he’s done. With the ups and downs, he’s had to deal with and new pitchers coming in what feels like daily, he’s done the best he could with what he’s been given.

Now let’s get to the good stuff, Vazqy is absolutely mashing the ball at a Ruthian clip. It’s like he went to bed after last season and woke up with the spirit of Ted Wiliams in his body. after today’s epic performance against the Phillies, he’s got his batting average up to .273 which is the second-highest of his career.

The big surprise from Vazquez this season has been the fact that he’s treating 2019 like his own personal Home Run Derby. “Colo” came into the year with just ten career homers and this dude has come out here and smacked 21 dingers so far.

There’s still time left in the year, this man could post up 25 freakin’ moon-bombs! It’s been an awesome sight to watch him evolve in every aspect of the game. I look forward to seeing what he can do when this pitching staff is at full strength next season, the rest of the league may be in some serious trouble.
