All the information you need on how to watch or listen to the Boston Red Sox take on the New York Yankees in their first visit to the Bronx this season.
The Boston Red Sox (25-9) head into enemy territory to take on the New York Yankees (24-10) for control of a tight division race.
The rivals enter the day owning the two best records in baseball with winning percentages over .700 this season. The Los Angeles Angels (21-13) are the only other American League team that can boast a winning percentage that cracks the .600 mark.
Tuesday’s series opener will be the first time since June 2, 2002, that the Red Sox and Yankees will square off with MLB’s two best records. The Yankees were one win ahead in the standings when that game began but the Red Sox pulled even with a 7-1 victory to clinch a series victory in the Bronx.
This time it’s Boston that holds the one-game edge. It’s still early in the season but this is shaping up to be a two-team race in the AL East. Both appear to be on the path to the postseason but only one of them can win the division. Imagine one of these teams being forced into a one-game Wild Card game despite owning the second-best record in the majors. It could happen! That makes every head-to-head meeting significant.
It’s not only their records that are nearly even. The Red Sox and Yankees are fairly close in many categories entering this series.
One area that may be a mismatch in the Yankees favor is the starting pitcher matchup. While Luis Severino has picked up right where he left off from last year’s breakout campaign, Drew Pomeranz hasn’t looked the same. The lefty struggled in his first two starts following an injury-delayed debut, allowing seven runs over 8 2/3 innings between the outings. His most recent outing was more promising, producing a quality start against the Kansas City Royals. Pomeranz will look to build on that momentum against a much more formidable lineup.
You won’t want to miss any of the action between these fierce rivals and we’re here to provide you with all the details on where and when to tune in!
