The Red Sox will work with the city of Boston in order to increase security at Fenway Park for Game 3 and 4 of the American League Division Series against the Houston Astros.

Boston and the Red Sox are increasing the security at Fenway Park due to reports that have surfaced linking the Las Vegas shooter, Stephen Paddock, to Fenway. The various media reports stated that Paddock had researched a possible attack in Boston with Fenway Park as a potential target.

Game 3 of the ALDS is set to begin on Sunday in Boston and the Red Sox issued the following statement to MassLive.com:

"“We are aware of the media reports. The FBI has requested all inquiries be referred directly to them. While there is currently no credible threat to Fenway Park according to public safety agencies, the Red Sox have been working with city, state, and federal officials on increased security measures for postseason games at Fenway Park.”"

The horrific mass shooting in Las Vegas resulted in 59 people killed and over 500 injured. Paddock opened fire on a giant crowd at a music festival on Sunday night. He was inside a hotel room that overlooked the outdoor venue.

According to some of the media reports about Paddock’s potential target list, Paddock could not find a clear line of sight into Fenway Park from a nearby hotel. Many of the hotels researched by Paddock offered views that were heavily obstructed and Paddock eventually gave up on the search.
