Red Sox: PawSox Farm Team to host Kyrie Irving Night
A Boston Red Sox affiliate will be hosting “Kyrie Irving Night” on August 24th after the Boston Celtics acquired him in a blockbuster trade.
The Pawtucket Triple-A affiliate of the Red Sox are hosting “Kyrie Irving Night” on Thursday, August 24th, following the huge blockbuster trade between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers. The big trade also included former Celtics players Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, and Ante Zizic as well as a draft pick.
The PawSox will be giving away free general admission tickets to any fans wearing green or Boston Celtics gear to the game. They also will be offering an opportunity for fans to interact with a dunk tank outside of McCoy Stadium prior to the game. An individual with a LeBron James Cleveland Cavaliers jersey will be the victim inside the tank.
“We know how popular the Boston Celtics are throughout the area,” Dan Rea of the PawSox said, “and we hope that our fans will enjoy an evening that trumpets Kyrie Irving’s arrival.”
The Red Sox minor league team also said, “any fan by the name LeBron, Draymond, Steph, Lonzo or Kevin [Love or Durant] will be charged double the price of admission.”
The Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers open up the NBA regular season against one another on October 17th in Cleveland.
Right now, the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox are at the tail-end of a four-game series. The Indians took game one in dramatic fashion but the Red Sox answered back with back-to-back wins. In Game 2, Doug Fister pitched a one-hit complete game for the win and Drew Pomeranz followed it up with a very solid start in Game 3.
Next: Predicting the September Call-Ups
Game 4 between the Red Sox and Indians is tonight (Thursday, August 24th) at 7:10 EST. If you can’t catch that game but happen to be in the Pawtucket area, maybe check out Kyrie Irving Night and have a bit of fun with the dunk tank. Just remember to wear some green to get that free ticket. It’s a good opportunity to check out some of the players that may be called up in September for that final playoff push.
