Andrew Benintendi has been key to the Boston Red Sox success. He has proven himself as an asset in the lineup and in the field.
Today is a special day for No. 16 for the Boston Red Sox. Andrew Benintendi turns 23 today, which is still the youngest on the team. Although, Andrew is the youngest, he is proving to everyone that he isn’t new to the game.
Benintendi has been a big part of the Red Sox lineup lately. He’s collected six hits in the last three games. Benintendi had been in a little bit of a slump before the Toronto Series, but it’s safe to say that he is breaking out of it. The rookie is finding himself at the plate now.
Benintendi is batting .286 this year which ranks him third in batting average on the team behind Xander Bogaerts (.308) and Dustin Pedroia (.297). In addition to batting average, Benintendi is ranked second on the team in home runs with 12, behind only Mookie Betts (15).

The rookie outfielder had a big night in Tuesday night’s win over the Texas Rangers, going 5-for-5 falling only a triple shy of the cycle. Hitting two home runs and knocking in six RBIs, Andrew was hitting very, very well.
He has also proved to be an asset in the field, making spectacular catches in the outfield like the one in Tuesday night’s game when he leaped up and collided with the wall, miraculously making the catch.
The Red Sox need Benintendi to consistently play like he did in Tuesday night’s game against the Rangers. If they want to be a championship team, that’s exactly what they need. Performing well at the plate and in the field.
Next: Price leaves us without reason to criticize
Let’s hope he keeps rolling and helping the Red Sox keep the division lead. In the meantime, wish Andrew Benintendi a Happy Birthday.
