Former NESN broadcaster Don Orsillo will call the game between the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros on Fox Sports later this month.

Get ready, Red Sox Nation. The Dontourage is coming back! At least temporarily.

Former NESN broadcaster Don Orsillo announced via Twitter that he’ll be calling the game between the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros for Fox Sports. He’ll be joined by Eric Karros and Tom Verducci on the Fox crew.

The Nationally televised showdown with the team owning the best record in the American League will take place on Saturday, June 17.

Orsillo was the voice of Red Sox television from 2001 to 2015. During his tenure in Boston he covered four no-hitters and three World Series championships. His chemistry with color commentator Jerry Remy developed over the years to the point where even lopsided affairs remained entertaining.

More from Red Sox News

The Melrose native grew up in the New England area rooting for the Red Sox. Calling games for this team was a dream come true for Orsillo.

The beloved broadcaster was controversially let go at the end of the 2015 season when NESN decided they needed to shake things up. While Dave O’Brien has done a masterful job taking over the play-by-play role, Orsillo’s unceremonious departure never sat well with fans.

Since leaving Boston, Orsillo has found a new home broadcasting games for the San Diego Padres. He’s also occasionally utilized by Fox Sports and has done postseason games on TBS.

The game against the Astros will be on the road, depriving Orsillo the chance of being back in the booth at Fenway Park. Regardless of the venue, it will be great for fans to hear him call a Red Sox game again.

National commentators are supposed to remain unbiased. Yet you can’t help but wonder, will there be a tinge of excitement in Orsillo’s voice if the Red Sox come up with a big hit in a tight ballgame? We’ve heard so many classic calls from Orsillo over the years that reveal his passion for this team. We can only hope he has one more of those enthusiastic calls left in him.
