Boston Red Sox reliever Robbie Ross is a man of many talents. He is a dream crusher, strike thrower and co-founder of Mission 108.

Mission 108 is a human trafficking and human rights focused charity founded by Boston Red Sox pitcher Robbie Ross, Jr. and his wife Brittany in 2012.

Human trafficking is a huge problem in this world. According to the Polaris Project, there are 20.9 million victims of human trafficking globally and it is a $150 billion industry. The mission statement of this charity is to advocate on behalf of marginalized people focusing on human trafficking and the extreme poor.

The Red Sox left-hander felt obligated to use his professional platform to raise awareness to a bigger issue than just baseball and put good into the world. He said on the charity’s website that he is “uncomfortable being comfortable and feel(s) a calling to protect.” Ross and his wife recently took a trip to India during this offseason for this charity.

They work with Nai Asha, a group in Northern India that helps fight against human trafficking by working with the local government and police to on laws to advocate safety for the present and techniques to get rid of this horrible crime in the future. They also focus on ways to improve the life for people rescued from trafficking by teaching them life skills and providing educational programs.
