Major League Baseball unveiled new specialty uniforms for various holidays throughout the 2016 season, giving the Boston Red Sox 6 new alternate uniforms.

Feeling the need to fork over more of your hard-earned cash for some Boston Red Sox merchandise? Well, you’re in luck because now there are six new variations for you to purchase.

Major League Baseball announced on Wednesday that every team will once again wear specialty uniforms for various holidays this season. We have seen these types of alternate uniforms used in the past to commemorate Memorial Day and the Fourth of July, but we can now add Mother’s Day and Father’s Day to the list. The unveiling also included designs for this year’s All-Star Game and Home Run Derby uniforms.

The uniforms were designed as part of a joint effort between MLB, New Era and Majestic Athletic, with proceeds from the sales going to various charities.

Sportslogos.net provides a detailed look at each of the new uniforms for every MLB team, but we’ll focus on the new look of these alternate Red Sox uniforms.

Mother’s Day – May 8, 2016

The word Boston will run across the front of the grey road jersey in bold pink capital letters. A patch on the left sleeve will show the pair of hanging Sox logo, which has been turned pink instead of red.

The dark grey cap will have a pink B logo in the front, along with pink cap eyelets, pill and stitches.

Proceeds from the sale of Mother’s Day Uniforms will go to Susan G. Komen to raise funds and awareness to fight Breast Cancer.

Memorial Day – May 30, 2016

These uniforms will use a new “woodland” camouflage pattern licensed by the US Marine Corps. Boston’s grey road jersey will have the name of the city across the chest with this color pattern, while the hanging Sox logo on the sleeve will be a mix of green and brown to match the camouflage color scheme.

This camouflage design will also be reflected on the caps, with a dark B logo on the front outlined by the lighter greenish camo color.

Proceeds from these jerseys will benefit the Welcome Back Veterans charity.

Father’s Day – June 19, 2016

The Red Sox will be at Fenway Park wearing their home whites on Father’s Day, with the familiar Red Sox lettering filled in with powder blue accented by a dark grey outline. A dark grey stripe runs down the front of the jersey on each side of the buttons.

The caps are essentially the same as the Mother’s Day design, only with powder blue instead of pink.

Proceeds will go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Independence Day – July 4, 2016

The “Stars and Stripes” uniforms are back for the Fourth of July.

Boston will wear red uniforms with Red Sox across the chest in dark blue lettering with a star pattern mixed in. There will also be an American flag patch on the right sleeve.

The red cap will have a mesh panel in front with the red B logo over a pattern of stars.

Proceeds will go to the Welcome Back Veterans charity.

Home Run Derby – July 11, 2016

This year’s MLB All-Star game will be held in San Diego, so the design used for the workouts and festivities that weekend taps into the classic look of the 1970’s Padres uniforms.

Any Red Sox player in attendance will wear a yellow jersey with brown sleeves. The word “american” will be on the front of the jersey in all lower case brown letters with an orange outline. The right sleeve will have an All-Star Game patch, while the left will have a Red Sox logo.

Caps feature a white front panel with the team name arched across it in the retro Padres style with orange lower case letters. The side of the cap also features the B logo in yellow and orange.

These uniforms aren’t pretty, but they may bring back a wave of nostalgia for some fans.

All-Star Game – July 12, 2016

Players will wear uniforms similar to their own team’s usual design, with some subtle differences.

The front of the jersey will have the player’s signature in gold letters and a pair of gold stars in the lower right corner. The back of the jersey also has a small MLB logo book-ended by a pair of gold stars at the top.

Next: Betts will make the All-Star team

Caps will have the team’s logo on the front with gold trim and the eyelets are surrounded by gold stars. There will be an All-Star Game logo on the left side and an MLB logo with gold stars on each side on the back.
