Boston Red Sox Christmas songs
We take some of your favorite Christmas songs and put a little Red Sox twist on them.
It’s that time of year again. By now all your shopping should be done, all your gifts are wrapped and the tree is set to light up your living room. The Boston Red Sox have finished all of their big ticket purchases before the holidays, wrapping up a revamped roster that they hope will light up the league in 2016.
‘Tis the season, as the say, so to get you in the holiday spirit we’ve taken some of your favorite Christmas songs and put a bit of a twist on them – Red Sox style.
David Price is Coming to Town
You better watch out,
You better not cry,
Better watch the Sox
I’m telling you why,
David Price is coming to town.
He signed his contract,
We checked it twice.
In a Sox jersey he’ll look very nice,
David Price is coming to town.
He has a blazing fastball,
He knows how to throw a curve,
He knows his off-speed stuff is good
So he’ll be good for goodness sake!
O! You better watch out,
You better not cry,
Better watch the Sox
I’m telling you why,
David Price is coming to town.
Papi the Snowman
Papi the Snowman, was a jolly happy soul,
With a flashy smile that spread for a mile,
And two eyes that mastered the strike zone.
Papi the Snowman is a superstar they say.
He came from the Twins, but the Red Sox know
How he came to life at Fenway.
There must have been some magic in that old wooden bat they found,
For when they placed it in his hands, he began to smash home runs.
Oh, Papi the Snowman, was alive as he could be;
And Red Sox fans say he could hit and play,
Far better than you and me.
Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump, thump,
Look at Papi hit.
Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump thump,
Over the the Green Monster.
Papi the Snowman, knew the sun was hot that day,
So he said “Let’s play, and we’ll have some fun,
Now before I retire away.”
Down to Fenway, with a baseball bat in his hand,
Smashing balls here and there and everywhere,
Saying, “Catch it if you can.”
He led them to the postseason,
Right to the World Series;
And once he won another ring,
He knew it was time to stop!
For Papi the Snowman, had to hurry on his way,
But he waved goodbye, saying “Don’t you cry,
I’ll be in the Hall of Fame someday.”
Hanley the Lead-Gloved Fielder
You know Manny and Pablo and Lugo and Damon.
Renteria and Jonny and Salty and Buckner.
But do you recall
The worst fielder of them all.
Hanley the lead-gloved fielder
Had some trouble out in left.
And if you ever saw it,
You would even say he’s awful.
All of the Fenway Faithful,
Used to laugh and call him names.
They never wanted poor Hanley,
To play in any Red Sox games.
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Farrell came to say,
Hanley with your glove not right,
Won’t you play first base tonight.
Then all his teammates loved him,
And they shouted out with glee,
Hanley the lead-gloved fielder,
You’ll look better playing next to Petey!
