Anthony Varvaro – P
2015 Stats: 0-1 W/L, 9 G, 11 IP, 6 W, 8 K, 4.29 ERA, 1.82 WHIP

Picked up by Cubs during 2015 and returned to Boston when an injury was discovered. A 31-year-old right-hander with some decent MLB performances. On the road (hopefully) to recovery. A healthy Varvaro could represent some possible experience depth at Pawtucket for the Big Club.

Roman Mendez – P
2015 Stats: 0-1 W/L, 15 G, 13.2 IP, 8 BB, 10 K, 5.27 ERA, 1.12 WHIP

Split duty between Texas and Boston before getting the cherished DFA and then the rejection when not picked up. So back to the Red Sox. Now 25-years-old this guy is a big and sturdy right-hander with mid- 90s heat. Tough to give up on a hard thrower.

Jhonny Polanco – P
2015 Stats (Minors): 3-6 W/L, 37 G, 71.1 IP, 40 W, 77 K, 4.16 ERA, 1.37 WHIP

A 23-year-old right-hander who has been in pro ball since 2009. Polanco was in the Cards system until picked up by the Red Sox and is a noted hard thrower with a career K/9 of 9.31. The downside is a career BB/9 of 4.82. Makes the occasional spot start.

Robby Scott – P
2015 Stats (Minors): 2-2 W/L, 38 G, 75.1 IP, 22 W, 68 K, 4.42 ERA, 1.34 WHIP

Moved up from Portland during 2015 and the 26-year-old lefty was welcomed by the IL hitters with a 13.4 H/9. Finished with a 1-1 record and 7.67 ERA at Pawtucket. Does the occasional spot start, but may be locked into situational role unless released. Outside long shot to start.

Jorge Marban – P
2015 Stats (minors): 7-2 W/L, 38 G, 62 IP, 33 W, 52 K, 1.31 ERA, 1.27 WHIP

The 27-year-old right-hander is a world traveler with some time pitching in Australia and extensive pitching in Indy baseball. Throws hard and has some control issues. Was very impressive at Pawtucket (3-0, 0.69). Interesting pitcher who may be somewhat of a late developing sleeper.
