High-A Salem Red Sox

Game One

Final Score: Lynchburg Hillcats 4, Red Sox 0

Notable Pitchers:

Ty Buttrey (3 IP, H, 3 R, ER, 4 BB, 5 K)

  • Buttrey only lasted three innings because of a rain delay that pushed the last six innings of this game from Tuesday night to yesterday. Even considering that, though, this is an unusual start for Buttrey. Normally a groundball pitcher that doesn’t strike out or walk too many hitters, Buttrey did quite a bit of both and also allowed a number of runs despite allowing just a hit. Still, Buttrey is enjoying a strong rebound season in 2015 and is a prospect to watch.

Kyle Kraus (5 IP, 3 H, R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K)

Notable Position Players:

Mauricio Dubon (1-4)

Wendell Rijo (1-4)

Game Two

Final Score: Lynchburg Hillcats 8, Red Sox 2

Notable Pitchers:

Chandler Shepherd (IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 K)

Teddy Stankiewicz (5 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 K)

  • It would be tough to name someone in the Red Sox organization whose had as up-and-down a season as Stankiewicz. Every strong start appears to be matched by a shaky start, as in last night, and as a result he’s sitting on a mediocre 3.86 ERA thus far. It’s worth wondering how he’ll handle the transition to the upper minors next year.

Notable Position Players:

Mauricio Dubon (1-2, CS)

Wendell Rijo (1-3)
