- McAvoy was drafted in the fourth round of last year’s draft out of Bryant College in Rhode Island. An advanced college arm, he was aggressively promoted to Salem to begin his first full season and, while he’s hardly excelled, he has held his own. An elite groundball pitcher, he has worked to a 4.40 ERA, though he has struggled with command, and should be on track to start next season in Portland.
